Crystal Healing and the Sacral Chakra

The sacral chakra is the second of seven points where energy intersects into our body. This spot, located two inches down from the naval and two inches back, is where the energy for your passion begins. It is no coincidence that human reproduction organs are also in this area, as the sacral chakra governs our sexuality and our pleasures. It is our "feel good" area.

When there is an imbalance, we may deny ourselves the things that make us feel good. We begin to feel sluggish or lazy. Because this area is connected to our sexuality, we may also have a loss of intimacy or sexual drive, or we may feel disconnected from those around us.

As well as being unbalanced, our chakras can become overactive. When the sacral chakra is like this, we may feel needy and need constant reassurance. For creative people, we might feel that the work we produce is not good enough, or we may not accept someone’s criticism of our work.

When there is balance there is a sense of well-being, and we are able to let things go and move on. For those who are artistic, the sacral chakra is the wellspring for creativity and influences and fuels our imagination.Energy flows from the head (crown) and travels down along the body through each chakra point; in order to balance the sacral chakra, you should first begin with the root chakra.

Crystals and gemstones are formed in the different layers of the earth’s mantle. The heat, pressure, and climate work together to form the unique minerals and atomic properties of each. Everything in the universe carries an energy signature. These atomic vibrations caused by the movement of atoms around the nuclei resonate at different frequencies, and allow us to utilize their vibrations to aid our overall health.

Once a crystal is formed, it can remain unchanged for millions of years. However, if crystals are exposed to extreme heat and pressure, they can also change themselves into other minerals. This is energy in motion, creating electrical charges and metaphysical properties of these sacred crystals that have been in the earth for billions of years.

Crystals for Sacral Chakra

The color associated with this chakra is orange. Use orange crystals such as:

  • Red jasper
  • Carnelian
  • Orange calcite
  • Vanadinite

Blue-green stones such as the blue-green turquoise or fluorite are also good.

When purchasing crystals, it’s better to buy them from a store or dealer yourself instead of having them delivered to you. It may be easier for them to be delivered, but when working with crystals, you need a strong connection to the chosen stone, and this can only be accomplished when you choose it.

Create an Energetic Space

After purchasing and cleansing your desired crystal, lay on your stomach. Someplace where you will be comfortable and there are no worries about someone disturbing you. Place the stone on your abdomen, two inches below your navel. You can either hold the stone in your hand near the chakra point, or place it on your body so that it won’t fall off. If sitting, hold it in your cupped palm in the same location. Take some deep breaths and clear your mind.

Play meditative music designed to stimulate the sacral chakra. When listening, focus on the keynote. Let it slowly drown out all the other sounds around you or that may also be in the music. I find that after ten minutes or so, I can feel my body vibrate ever so gently in harmony to the keynote. There are many wonderful videos on YouTube and, like crystals, you need to choose one that works for you.

Additional Tips for the Sacral Chakra

Nutrition

The sacral chakra is connected to the sense of taste. To keep yourself balanced, eat sweet foods such as oranges, tangerines, and tropical fruits. Seeds and nuts as well as orange-colored foods are good as well.

Fitness

Exercising the abdomen muscles is a good way to keep the sacral chakra balanced. Dancing, particularly belly dancing, or using a hula hoop is an excellent chakra workout. If you practice yoga, you can incorporate these poses into your routine to open the hip flexors and work the abdominal muscles.

Pigeon pose
Frog pose
Bound angle pose
