Exciting News: A New Day, A New Name

Since 2011, we’ve been pursuing our vision of empowering the evolution of consciousness through content that inspires, educates, and transforms our members’ lives.

We’ve filmed thousands of yoga videos, lectures and interviews with luminaries. We’ve produced exclusive original content to explore the human spirit and examine the world around us. We’ve asked our members to pursue their highest potential.

And now, just as we encourage evolution in others, we feel ready to take our own next step. Nothing dramatic. Same mission. Same team. Just…evolved.

We are proud to announce Gaiam TV is changing its name to Gaia.

We’ve always taken inspiration from Gaia, the earth goddess, honoring the connection among all living beings on Earth. This idea lives at the heart of our mission. And we believe the name Gaia is a clear expression of what we’ve become, with the help of our member community.

We’ll be making this change in the coming weeks. Here’s what else you can expect:

  • A freshly crafted Gaia App accessible on the brand new Apple TV, plus iPad and iPhone

It's really frustrating that all of the devices in which I used to stream Gaia (GaiamTV and My Yoga Online) have been removed from your support. First the PS3, Android tablets and phones, Samsung Smart TVs, and the Kindle Fire & Fire TV. I was upset, but I was still able to view the videos via my Samsung Smart TV web browser up until a few weeks ago, which was just last month (late May 2016) while I was in the middle of a Guide. Now I'm reduced to either watching on a small iPad screen or a computer's web browser or spending money to buy new devices when my devices are not even 6 months old. How is it that you add support for new brands (predominantly Apple, as Roku was already supported) and take away support from many existing brands that people used and pretty much brought in enough revenue to make this company what it is today? That is poor marketing! It's as if your developers and decision makers are partial to Apple and Roku and would prefer customers that use these products, when these customers were not the ones purchasing your services to help you grow. Yes, I see that Gaia has brought back support for some (older) android devices; I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and it is not supported (my daughter has a Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge and it too is not supported either). It's like your company doesn't even care about the customers that were with you from the start, before you took over My Yoga Online, which I wish had not merged with Gaiam. Maybe the corporate takeover wouldn't have been so drastic to the existing, loyal customers, but we fell for the "bait and switch". I hope Apple and Roku are worth the loss.

I honestly wanted to give this a shot, even got a month subscription since I noticed you had an app on the Xbox 360. Since I do not own an Apple product is there any chance you will be opening up the app on the console again?

It has been weeks since the name change and you guys have still not informed your customers that you were going to stop supporting the services they use to consume your content. That is flat out poor customer service! The Android app just stopped working and was deleted from the Google Play store without warning and same with the PlayStation app. Currently the only way I am able to view content is via my laptop and that sucks! All the reasons I had for subscribing have been eliminated. This makes no sense!

Whatever you are doing by disabling all support for the major streaming devices intentionally or unintentionally puts your customers last. Huge failure on your side in my opinion. You're forcing everyone to sit close to their radiation emitting pcs to view anything now. Streaming to our tvs allows us to share and experience these episodes with our friends and family in our homes. Instead now we sit in isolation alone in front of our computer monitors. Best of luck creating a connected community with that strategy. I'm out.

I've been a subscriber for several years and am very disappointed that you no longer support Samsung. I have a Samsung Galaxy phone, tablet, netbook and Smart tv. I can't play on any of them now. The only device I can play is an old Sony VAIO Laptop that is too heavy to travel with. I was enjoying your videos on my Samsung smart tv only now to be downgraded to my little old computer ? This is unacceptable especially in this high tech 21st Century.
on your website you list Android devices as an option but then support said you don't technically support them. Why do you list them as an option then? I've wasted a lot of time trying to get them to work. I'm in a hotel and wanted to use my subscription on my tablet as I have for a long time and I can't . I read a comment below that you intend to have an Android app in March 2016. So in the meantime I only use my old small screen Sony Vaio at home on a table? No yoga while traveling ? I'm wasting my money now.
Now I either purchase more equipment and hassle with the plugins or switch to Apple. I'm not going to do that .

the old look and feel of gaiamtv was lovely, and its replacement feels like a stark and unreadable disappointment on my roku channel. I actually wince in pain when the channel loads now. RIP purple background.

Would it be possible to put a menu selection for recently deleted shows or movies? Nothing worse than sifting through all the shows for extended period of time only to find out the movie was deleted.

Are there any plans to have the content on the Spiritual Cinema Circle available streamed? I would love to see many of their shows however I don't even own a dvd any longer. Everything I watch is streamed. Maybe charge a little more and make it a different subscription type?

I love your new name and look forward to your updates. I'm hoping that the programs we save to watch become categorized. Everything I have saved is one big long list and I can't find things. If my list had subheadings that match your topics like yoga, health and longevity, seeking truth etc. it would be much easier to find. I rely on the recently watched that comes up when I sign in to find my yoga video each day. I do love this site and appreciate the price so much though!! Thank you for the improvements! :)

I am a big fan of your site. I am not into yoga but I watch most everything else you offer. I would like to see more of James Vanprauge's shows. My favorite shows are the two David Wilkes presents. I understand that with any kind of changes and transition, there will be growing pains but I really feel management did not think some their decisions to restrict viewing to a few devices through. While I streamed content via my PC, I relied heavily on my XBOX 360 for streaming your content , in fact I preferred to watch Gaiam's programming on my TV instead of my PC. I'm extremely disappointed that the management at Gaiam decided to limit the viewing experience to a few devices, this decision seems to be moving backwards instead of forwards in my opinion. Being available across more devices means more exposure and a chance to gain more subscribers. I loved using my XBOX 360 for the fitness content because trying to practice yoga and follow it on your small PC is not preferable. I really hope you listen to your subscribers and bring some the devices many of them I have and used to stream your service back. Also, when did the annual subscription become available and is that something current subscribers can begin?

GaiamTV is an incredibly rich source of information and viewpoints that has saved my life by helping me transform myself and enabling me to progress through these very challenging worldwide transformational times. I'm amazed that so many of your customers are expressing disappointment and unsubscribing because of availability inconveniences (I wonder: is this part some sort of conspiracy to discredit you?). My choice between Evolution and demanding a better app is clear and I'm looking forward to GaiaTV.

I just downloaded the app for Amazon Fire TV yesterday, and now I am discovering this new system will not work on that platform. I value the programming Gaiam TV offers, but I can't justify the difficulty of having to play it on my tablet, mirror to my TV, have the playback fail mid pose, etc... It's no longer worth the expense for the hassle. It would have been much better to wait to launch the new site until it works on the majority of platforms. Maybe I'll consider rejoining once the kinks are ironed out, but it's probably not going to be high on my list of priorities. Disappointed.

I don't know about your new launch......you seem to be regressing! I can no longer stream you through my Samsung TV. I can't use my Samsung Tablet. You're charging me $10./month and I see you are offering new subscriptions @ $7.95/ month. So much for being a faithfull subscriber. I will have to cancel my subscription if you can't do any better!

Keep up the great work! One thing I am hoping for is the option to save where you are at with ongoing programs... Especially Wisdom Teachings and Cosmic Disclosure, which need to be watched in order. It's kind of a challenge to find the episode I need to start from or have to open the recently watched episode, scroll to the end and try to get the next one to load... Any hope for improvement in this area on the new site? I still have to figure out where I left off with WT. (eek!)

Also... I'm always telling my friends about the site too! Will the links I sent out before, still direct people to the right place?

Are you not bringing back FireTV at all ? As it does run on Android, and I use it for your app. Does it not seem rash it no longer being on there anymore. I feel you will lose a lot of subscribers. FireTV and sticks are one of the most popular streaming devices. And sell really well. If so it's a poor decision.

You keep going on about "relaunching" the android version in 2016, however I am assuming that is tentative and do you really think all this cancelling Android users are gonna wake up on March 1st and think "lets reactivate our accounts". No, because most people cannot be bothered. Most people will look to YogaDownload, Udaya, YogaWorks, CodyApp etc ...there are so many more accommodating sites than yours. I emailed you exactly this time last year complaining how bad your website playback is. Then you create an app which helps a YEAR later, so late compared to other websites. So i buy an android tablet. Then you do this. You really have some stupid people in management I have to say. No discount even offered to Android users? A disgrace.

It is rather unfortunate that the Xbox 360 is no longer servicable. Is there a specific reason for dropping so many apps? I watch videos on my laptop or my iPod, but I use the Xbox to stream fitness programs. Is there a possibility that the app will come back? Judging from the comments this shift is not being received well by those who paid for the service. Is there still time to reverse the decision to drop so many apps?

I primarily watch Wisdom Teachings and Cosmic Disclosure on my Panasonic TV app. This app was not an option when I first subscribed to Gaiam, and I was thrilled when it was added to your lineup. The Panasonic app is not perfect, but at least I can sit on my comfy sofa and share the experience with a friend. Now I see that this app, along with about seven others, will be permanently discontinued. Although I do have a PC, I do not consider sitting in front of a computer screen an enjoyable viewing experience so please don't bother suggesting that. It's fine for YouTube, but not longer videos. My other option for individual viewing and portability is my Android tablet.

Just yesterday, November 16, I received an email telling me about this change. It says it is a reminder, but it's the first I heard that the Panasonic app will be shut down today and the Android app down until some time in March. And no, I am NOT in the market for any Apple devices.

At the very least, I will suspend my subscription until the Android app is up and running again. (Sorry, David Wilcock and Corey Goode!) In the meantime, I hope the "powers that be" at Gaiam TV will reconsider what is referred to in the email as "simplifying" your device lineup. I disagree that we will still have "unlimited access" to any programming.

Now I'm really confused. Gaia is only supporting Apple and Roku devices, but I am being offered an add-on subscription to Gaia on my Amazon Prime account. What's going on?
