Pyramid Power: My Search for Truth

Pyramid Power: My Search for Truth

I’ve always been curious. My curiosity has gotten me into a bit of trouble now and then, but for the most part, it’s led me to some of the greatest adventures of my life and introduced me to remarkable people. One day, walking home from campus, my curiosity led me to investigate a building that had just been painted in rainbow colors.

Inside, a man and woman were rolling out rugs and saw me peering in the window. The couple came out to see what I needed. They were polite and friendly, but I could sense a bit of that, “go away kid, you bother me,” energy that I’d received most of my life. They were evasive about what was coming and told me to watch for it. Did I mention that I’m curious? A few days later, as I was walking to class, I noticed something new, one word – “PYRAMID” – painted across the front of the rainbow building. Feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve, I fidgeted all day and skipped my last class so that I could get to the store and find out what “PYRAMID” meant. I hoped it was about pyramid power. I was an avid fan of the whole movement.

The Pyramid Shop: An Entryway to the Metaphysical Community

It was the mid-1970s and Pyramid Power was a huge topic of interest all over the world. Researchers were creating scale models of The Great Pyramid of Khufu, aligning them to the magnetic poles and experimenting, using pyramids for everything from meditating under them, to sharpening razor blades. It was a fascinating time to be involved in anything alternative and I was completely and totally enthralled by every bit of it. I was ecstatic with The Pyramid Shop’s existence and I immediately hit them up for a job and told him I was willing to work for free. How could they say no? Well, they did, but eventually they said yes, after realizing that I was going to hang out anyway. I was excited to be a part of it.

That excitement was well founded, as I was exposed to a fascinating environment with sincere, good people at the helm. The store was a magnet for the metaphysical community of the city and cities nearby, allowing me to meet some of the most interesting people I’ve had the good fortune to know.

It also became a stop for traveling psychics, gurus and even a few hucksters.

I was privileged to participate in numerous experiments, conducted within the small shop, with varying degrees of success and failure, but all of them fascinating.

The store sold sheet-copper pyramids that could be worn as hats, the owner’s own design, with one so large that it could be meditated inside of. All sorts of books on Pyramid Power were sold, as well as Pyramid Energy generators, some shaped like pyramids and others simply discs imprinted with geometric shapes, designed to simulate and generate Pyramid Power, whatever it may be. The owner would ask customers to put one of these generators to their third eye and describe the experience.

Without exception, everybody felt something, even the most skeptical.

Meditation in a Pyramid

Some found it unnerving, others exciting, while there were those who felt they’d opened a new chapter in their lives. Although it was a totally subjective experience, there was a common thread. Everyone seemed to feel some sort of movement, as if they were being pushed or dragged along a highway. I often felt as if I were swirling, the same sort of feeling I used to get as a kid when I’d spin around in circles until I fell over, except Pyramid Power didn’t make me sick. Meditating in the big pyramid was an experience that defies description. I don’t know what happened inside that space, but my meditations were deeper, more intense and often bordered on hallucinatory. I loved that pyramid.

A Crack in the Wall

The store eventually began hosting classes. In one of the most startling moments of my life, during a class on aura, I began seeing them. Two of the participants had seen auras for years and quite suddenly, I began seeing shapes, colors and movement, before they could describe what they were seeing. That evening changed my life. To this day, I call it, “The crack in the wall.” We experimented with not only how to see auras but Kirlian Photography to Astral Travel and everything in between. It was one of the most formative times in my life and I’ll forever hold it, and the people I came to love, dear to my heart.

Eventually, the owner of the shop and a group of fellow minded believers became convinced that there were pyramids on the bottom of the ocean. They theorized that they were remnants of the Atlantean civilization. Using their own funds, they took an expedition to the waters and searched for pyramids that they didn’t find. Undaunted, the owner vowed to try again. Eventually, The Pyramid Shop closed, but it’s influence was firmly implanted in my mind and helped to guide me on my journey through my life in metaphysics. There, I learned that the truth is always much more interesting than delusion.

Finding Sheer Greatness in the Pyramids at Giza

I’ve been to the Pyramids at Giza. Until you stand at the base of Khufu’s Pyramid, there’s no way to comprehend how big it is. The Great Pyramid is somewhere around 13 acres at the base and imposes itself almost 500 feet into the sky. I remember standing at the base, looking up and feeling dizzy. It was impossible to see the top, because of its slope and extreme height. In that moment, I wondered how humans could possibly have built it. In the next moment, I was sure they did, as I saw tool marks on the massive stones with my own eyes.

I definitely felt some powerful energy, almost as if the sheer mass of the structure created its own reality and challenged the observer to explain its existence, something that defied all logic.

Is There Such a Thing as Pyramid Power?

Over the decades, brilliant minds have spent hundreds of thousands of hours and millions of dollars in research, attempting to discover if there is such a thing as Pyramid Power. They’ve sought to affirm if there’s some sort of mysterious energy, spirituality or doorway to other dimensions contained within. To my knowledge, there haven’t been any scientifically recognized, definitive results that prove that Pyramid Power exists.

This doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist, but neither is there empirical proof of anything specific.

I’ve been involved with what I’ll call, “spiritually-scientific,” companies over the years. One such company was run by sincere people who believed in their product and its science, which couldn’t be proven. Numerous experiments were conducted, with varied results over the years, but nothing specific or consistent could be ascertained. This didn’t prevent them from realizing millions of dollars in sales every year. There is no lack of pyramid and other alternative science merchandise in the marketplace.

From dowsers, generators, brainwave accelerators, meditation energy amplifiers, to all the psi equipment a person could want, it’s out there.

And yet, to my knowledge, there’s been no independently confirmed scientific proof to substantiate that such things work. Some say that this is due to a massive conspiracy, attempting to keep the truth from us. Others claim that it’s because it isn’t real and is purely pseudoscience. Many point to an inability for current science to understand the entirety of Nature and its mysteries. Others claim it’s an elaborate con, perpetrated on the gullible. I say that it’s somewhere in the middle of all of those theories.

I like the middle road and hold to the possibility that something does exist, but that it hasn’t been fully discovered yet.

Pyramid Power Experimentation

I’ve done my own experimenting and highly suggest it. I drank milk out of a carton that had been under a pyramid for a week, without refrigeration. It had turned slightly, but hadn’t become the coagulated mess that another carton had become that was next to it, but not under a pyramid. Upon duplicating the experiment, using the same techniques, both cartons were completely undrinkable. I studied for a final exam with a copper pyramid on my head, much to the amusement of others, and did quite well on the exam. I did just as well in an equally difficult exam, without the pyramid. I wore a Pyramid Power pendant around my neck for a year or so, but honestly didn’t think it made much of a difference. I’ve come to think that some of what I felt with Pyramid Power was a placebo and nothing more, but I know that some things were real and unexplainable. I’m not sure what it is, or how it works, but I know something is there.

Try Pyramid Power Yourself

I can assure you that there’s no such thing as a waste of time when it comes to the exploration of Nature and our place in it.

I urge you to disavow yourself of any preconceived notions as to whether the power exists or not. Please, try not to begin in a place where you believe the Pyramids were created by ancient astronauts from outer space. Having been there and seen the stones, I can assure you that they were created by human beings at the behest of a man, whom at the time was the most powerful human being on the planet. The sweat and toil exerted in the building of the monument was a testament to the ingenuity of human beings and what can be done when we work together. Skeletons found with compression and stress spinal fractures, in worker graveyards near the site, point to hard work by all involved and any insistence on believing in extraterrestrial help is an insult to their memories.

That being said, none of this speaks to the possibility of Pyramid Power as a reality, or more importantly, the lack of it. For me the journey is still ongoing and the jury out, but that’s what I love about it the most. It’s a mystery that hasn’t been solved yet, one that constantly entertains, stimulates the imagination and presents the possibility of something that takes us far beyond what logic and science can offer—for now. Whether it exists or not, the journey makes the exploration well worthwhile.

I just made a decision. I know where my old Pyramid Grid is and think it’s time to take it out for a spin; it’s been a long, long time. I don’t need to sharpen a razor, as I don’t shave, but I am fond of yogurt. The adventure resumes!

I wish you all peace and love.

Ancient Sound Technology; The Breath of Creation

Crashing waves. The thump of a palm against a taut drum skin. The wail of a new born baby. Sound is our tether to the present, to one another, and to our deep and ancient sense of the world. Throughout the ages, ancient sound technology, created through voice, instruments, and the natural world has provided healing and spiritual connection.

Every ancient civilization is based on the belief of the sanctity that is sound, from the Old Testament’s verse, “and God said, let there be light,” to the meditative Aum of the Hindu tradition; sound represents a spiritual significance that is essential to the human relationship to nature, self, and one another.

The first ancient people known to use sound as a healing power are the indigenous people of Northern Australia. The ancient culture created a kind of sound healing expressed through the didgeridoo, or its ancient name, the yidaki. Made from fallen eucalyptus branches hollowed out by termites, the didgeridoo is considered to be the oldest wind instrument, dating back more than 40,000 years.

Used in ceremonial rituals and for its healing properties, the didgeridoo was also a way to communicate across far distances due to the unique sound waves which are believed to be able to be heard through the Earth. The low frequencies produced by the didgeridoo are thought to heal, help with mobility, and open up energetic flows.

“He who knows the secret of the sound knows the mystery of the whole universe” – Hazrat Inayat Khan

North American indigenous cultures incorporated “reciprocal participation” in their tribal ceremonies with a complex and interconnected musical exchange that ranged across nations and tribes. Used for ritualistic purposes, creative expression, and healing, making and sharing music has always been central to Native American daily life.

According to the American Indian Heritage Foundation (AIHF), “ [u]nusual, irregular rhythms and a somewhat off-key style of singing are used. No harmony is ever incorporated, although sometimes many people sing at once, and other times the vocals are solo. The Native American vocals are passionate, used to invoke spirits, ask for rain or healing, or are used to heal the sick.”

AIHF states that “many researchers feel that Native American music is some of the most complex ever performed. The tensing and releasing of the vocals combined with varying drum beats make it a very intricate form of art.

In ancient Egypt, seven vowels served as sacred sounds, creating a strong euphony, or harmonic convergence. In addition to the human voice, Egyptian high priestesses played the sistrum in ceremonies, a kind of rattle with metal discs attached to it that generated an “ultrasound” to enhance healing, and which is still in use today. The ancient Egyptians believed so strongly in the power and sanctity of sound that there are no vowels present in their written language of hieroglyphics.
