Your skin is an organ, just like your heart or your liver. It regulates body temperature and it's the body's sensor, registering pressure, temperature and pain. It's the barrier against the elements and a shield against bacteria, viruses and other external threats to your health.
As you may have noticed your skin is also the body's mirror. When you're fatigued, poorly nourished or physically or emotionally stressed your skin reacts. Premature aging is a consequence of failing to give your skin the care and attention it deserves. And it shows up as a dull look on your face.
So what can you do to help this process along...
Well, your skin is the first line of defense. As such, it's easily damaged, both by external causes, such as the sunlight and air pollution-and by internal factors, such as cigarette smoke or by consuming a diet that is lacking in essential nutrients, particularly antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E.
Eating a diet high in antioxidant-rich meals will help keep the internal causes of skin aging at bay. A healthy complexion comes from what you put on your body and what goes into your body. Here is a great beauty food recipe-enjoy!
