What is Gaia Beta?
Beta means “first version.” Beta is a term often used by technology companies to describe the process of creating a new website or product. It basically means: work in progress, prototype…still in the works, just the beginning…all of those things! What does this mean, practically speaking? Well, it means things aren’t finished. While browsing the site, you may see videos that do not have an image. You may run into bugs. You may not be able to find certain features because they haven’t been built yet. And you may find features that aren’t fully working. To see what features are included in the current build of the Gaia Beta, see “What features can I expect to see now.” We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback in order to move us beyond beta and into the launch of the new Gaia experience for the whole community.
How do I get into the Gaia Beta?
Right now, the Gaia Beta is invite-only, but it will soon be open to any Gaia member. We love to hear from Members that are heavily active on the current www.gaia.com site. If you feel like you have a good understanding of the current website and would like to offer your feedback (or would like more information), please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have been invited to participate, you can log in here: https://beta-427.gaia.com/.
What will happen to the current Gaia.com and how long will it stay live?
The Gaia.com you are familiar with will stay live until we have tested, re-tested and proven that this new experience is top-notch and ready to be released to the rest of the Gaia member community. We will keep you posted as we make a decision for this date.
Why are we making these changes?
We are building a new experience because we think your time is incredibly valuable. The fact that you choose to spend some of it with us means a lot, and we want to be sure you get the most out of your time on Gaia. We are upgrading our technology and improving our design in order to make your experience on Gaia faster, smoother and more streamlined. We are creating new ways to help you find the best videos we have to offer and developing a new video experience that is more immersive and flexible. Finally, we are giving you the freedom to choose when and where to watch Gaia, by creating an experience that works on any and all devices, from phones and tablets to big-screen TVs. We’ve been listening to your feedback and are working hard to make the next generation of Gaia something truly special.
What features can I expect to see now?
In the current release of the Gaia Beta, you should expect to see:
- New look and feel of the site.
- Improved video experience with faster and more reliable streaming.
- Personalized video recommendations.
- Updates and improvements to the site navigation, making it easier for you to find the content you want.
- A new, flexible and immersive video experience.
You will see videos galore, a new layout and some cool additions to explore. We will be adding lots of features to the experience over the coming months, including playlists, articles, comments, and offline download (Purple Player). In the meantime, you can always access these features on the existing site at www.gaia.com.
Will streaming be improved?
Yes, you should experience faster and more reliable streaming.
How can I give feedback?
- There will be a pop-up at the bottom of your screen that asks you to respond to a few questions.
- You can also send an email to email@example.com with your thoughts, suggestions and feedback.
- We are planning to do 1:1 User Sessions, and we would love to include you! Please send a message to firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to be considered.
We will do our best to honor your requests. The team will assess all feedback and where it falls into their development plans. Please do not be discouraged if your ideas are not implemented. Our goal is to launch a truly great experience that our members will love, and we will continue to evolve and improve with new features, even after the beta period is complete. Much like your own personal journey, our journey to transform Gaia will never be “complete.” We’ll always be working to improve the experience.
Why did we change category names?
We wanted our category names to better match what can be found within them. You will notice that Spiritual Growth has gone away. That content can now be found in Transformation. Meditation will now be found in Yoga.
Why are certain links inactive when I click on them?
These are considered placeholders, and they will be active soon. They should all have a pop-up message that says: Coming Soon!
How do I manage my account?
All changes to your account will still need to be made on the current www.gaia.com.
site. Changes such as billing details, changes in your subscription, and editing your profile will all still be done through www.gaia.com.
