The phrase in the subject line always makes me grin.
Why the title?
Well, last week you got a little note with an update about our move to a
new server cluster. (Our host in LA had been fine when
Zaadz was a wee sproutling, but as the community grew—and grew and grew and grew!—we needed to find more suitable home.) And this week we're happy to announce that we're all settled. :)
What does this mean? Well, you've probably already noticed: a much faster (voila! the subject line!) and much more stable site. If you haven't yet been to check us out since the move, please swing by; we'd love to show off the new pad.
As with any housewarming party, the best part is the other guests, so make sure you say hello to your
fellow Zaadz members. You might try a
location search for your city or state to find a few faces near you; I've yet to meet anyone on the site who wasn't interested in a face-to-face chat over a quick cup of tea. Or maybe you'd like to make a difference in someone's life on the other side of the world? A quick hello to the owner of a profile that's grabbed you might open the door to all manner of possibilities.
(You could also try a six-degrees-of-
Zaadz game; pick a profile at random and see whether you've got any connections in common. You'd be surprised at the coincidences that occur. ;)
My personal favorite place on the site is the Explore page, and in particular the
Latest Blog Posts section. There's nothing like stumbling across a post from someone in need of a few words of encouragement and leaving a friendly word of support, or letting someone know their latest entry inspired you. Go ahead and try! It's fun. Trust me. :)
And of course, there's the Questions and Reflections. Subscribing to the newsletter is a great way to commit to a writing practice, and if you've never blogged before, it's an easy introduction.
We're excited about taking advantage of our new server cluster to start adding all manner of other fun community features, but more on that later. For now, in the interest of keeping this short (It's Monday! Don't you have
plerk to be doing?) I'll end the note here, but do please come say hello soon! We'd love to see you.
Much love,
Siona and the rest of the
Zaadz TeamPS. Oh. Forgot to mention. You're more than welcome to bring a friend (or two or three). I'm sure you know another world-changer or two. :)
