Zen Noir.
Great title, hm? The film itself is even better.
Marc Rosenbush--a Buddhist and fellow Zaadzster--wrote and directed a sharply original movie that opened in theatres last fall. Before that, the film won numerous festival awards, including Best Feature awards at the DC Independent Film Festival, the Moondance Film Festival, and the Rhode Island International Film Festival.
And for good reason. :)
Zen Noir is a dark comedy about a nameless detective sent to investigate a mysterious death in a Buddhist temple. His logical reasoning, however, is helpless against the paradoxical tenets of Zen Buddhism, and he finds himself getting drawn into a mystery that's less about the murder and more about the far deeper questions of love, and loss, and the inevitable impermanence of life and self. Beautiful, right? (Even the
trailer is excellent.)
The movie is no longer in theaters, but is now available on DVD, and Marc is offering
a special to Zaadz members. If you click
here, you can order the film for 20% off the regular price. (You'll get a pile of bonus features and gifts, too, but the DVD alone is more than worth it.)
So thank our latest
sponsor for his generosity, and congratulate him on the film, and then once the movie arrives, why not plan a little screening with a few other Zaadz members?
Again,
here's the link for the discount—and for more information about the film. (And yes, you're more than welcome to pass this on to other Buddhists, surrealists, film buffs, David Lynch fans and anyone else you might know. It beats
The Da Vinci Code hands down. ;)
Big hugs,
Siona and the
Zaadz Team
