So all of you are likely aware of Gaiam, our new parent company. What you might not know about, though, are our new sister businesses.
No, I won't spam you with a list. :) I just wanted to share one of my favorites:
Spiritual Cinema Circle.
They're wonderful. Why?
I'm sure most of us on Zaadz can come up with at least one or two movies that have made a difference in the way we see the world. And I'm also pretty confident most of us would agree that Hollywood is missing the mark a bit when it comes to transformative films.
(You think?)
Spiritual Cinema Circle was started to make it easier for others to find movies that matter. They do this by offering a
monthly DVD club of films that people feel have made a real impact on their lives.
Every few weeks, SCC sends out a
DVD of four films—three shorter movies, such as the joyful documentary
7 Days with 7 Dogs, or the intense
5 Wishes, and one long feature, such as the recently-released
Illusions, or Farley Mowat's classic
Snow Walker. As someone who gets frustrated sometimes combing the listings (be it Netflix or the local movie pages) for films I might actually be interested in seeing,
SCC is a real find.
It's also a deal—only $21 a month (about the cost of two people going to out to the theater). You get to keep all the films,
and trust that you're not going to be disappointed by something shallow or gratuitous.
But the real point of this newsletter? They're offering a free trial for the month of October.(Free! Remember how we said we liked giving things away?? :)
The feature film is
Deja Vu: a challenging movie with great reviews, it stars Vanessa Redgrave and Stephen Dillane, and shares the story of what happens when two soul mates, who are both in relationships with someone else, meet. (Confession: I haven't seen it yet; I haven't yet gotten this month's shipment.) SCC's version comes packaged with the documentary
Dream People of the Amazon, and two more shorts.
If you'd like to sign up for October's free trial, just click
here. (And you should! You can always unsubscribe, but that DVD is yours forever. Why turn down four free films?) Also, when the movies come, well, you might want to drop a note to someone else on the site and see whether they'd like to come screen them with you. :)
Much love, and big hugs, and til the next update...
Siona, and the
Zaadz Team .
PS. You also may want to bookmark this
link; the holidays are coming up and a subscription to SCC could make the
perfect gift. After all, if you sign up now, you'll have the change to test-drive the service before adding a few friends in December...
