I'm not sure I should say this, given that we've promoted other publications on the site, but
Ode—"the magazine for intelligent optimists"—is one that's made the biggest difference in my life, and I'm so sweetly happy to give you a chance to experience it (
for free!).
Ode, to my mind, is what the news should be. (The name means "song of praise" in many languages, which is so appropriate: Ode is a song of praise to our whole world.)
It's a brilliant alternative to regular newsmagazines: instead of pointing out tragedy and disaster, it focuses on positive stories. The articles aren't merely "feel good," either, but important reporting on some of the most serious social, environmental, and economic issues out there.
They're giving a risk- free issue (and special offer) to Gaia members, and a complimentary copy of Thich Nhat Hanh's "Touching the Earth" CD to anyone who decides to subscribe. All you need to do is fill out your address
here.
(And no, they won't ask for your credit card.)
Ode will do wonders in shifting your perspective. For me, it helped change the meaning of the phrase "the real world" from one of tragedy and pain to something beautiful and inspiring and positive—and I think this is crucial in
creating such a world. Ode gets this.
So get Ode. :)
In love and encouragement and in support of all the goodness going on out there,
Siona
PS. The example Ode sets for other "news" media is so, so important, and the fierce independence it shows in daring to be beacon of positivity and hope in the world makes each and every issue worth saving. It's one of those magazines that is very, very worth subscribing to.
You'll see!
