This weekend, I read a book that suggested setting aside an evening each month to watch a video about the life of a saint or sage, such as Gandhi, or the Dalai Lama, or Peace Pilgrim.
Doing this, the author found, inspired him to become more peaceful and compassionate himself, as the lives and actions of these human beings were made more real to him. He'd shared these movies with his family and found including others in the practice made it all the more powerful. In seeing these films, he wrote, they were opened to what
kinds of life were possible.
I thought this was beautiful, and was struck on Monday at how perfectly this message connects with our sponsor for the week.
Soul Masters: Dr. Guo & Dr. Sha has just been released on DVD. It's a powerful documentary about two Chinese physicians who go beyond the usual "East/West" and "body/mind" connections, showing people how to
use the power of the soul to heal. "In this process," says one of the physicians, "the patient's body heals itself.
Soul Masters was produced by a woman whose father was healed by Dr. Sha. She followed him to China, visiting his mentor's clinic, and brought back the first-ever footage of Dr. Sha and Dr. Guo's techniques and almost miraculous treatments. The practices of these two doctors, she reveals, have already helped hundreds of thousands of people, and their story makes for an incredibly hope-bringing film.
You can find clips from the movie, or stream the whole thing, at the website www.SoulMastersMovie.com. It's also available on
Amazon, though when I checked, they were temporarily out-of-stock. (Incredible, no? I love hearing about movies like this selling out.)
But go have a look at the 'Opening intro' in the media clips, and consider making their story the first of a regular viewing practice: Dr. Guo and Dr. Sha serve as beautiful examples of how a commitment to serve unconditionally can make a difference in the world.
And, if you know anyone working in traditional medicine who could benefit from their approach to healing "heart to heart, soul to soul", please consider passing this along. Western medicine could use a bit more soulful wisdom. :)
