A Quote by Yasuhiko Genku Kimura on ethics, greatness, fear, envy, genius, and passion

It is unethical not to know. It is unethical not to think. It is unethical not to love. It is unethical not to live an impassioned life. It is unethical not to attain greatness. It is unethical to succumb to the fear of envy and the conspiracy of mediocrity. It is unethical not to self-bestow genius. It is unethical not to be the first monkey.

It is impossible NOT to know, to think or to love. For this is who we are - you and me.

However, It IS possible not to live an impassioned life, not to attain greatness, and instead to succumb to our cultural and educated subconscious acceptance of mediocrity………… and to do so ……….that trully is a magnificent Gift.

The paradox is that such lack of passion, of greatness and acceptance of mediocrity only becomes a gift when we realise the life we live, the experiences we share and the happiness we create ….. all come from the choices we make.

“Magnificence” begins in the moment that we pause to both reflect and acknowledge the contrast between what what we enjoy and what we do not. Black on white, good and bad, yin and yang, ethical, unethical  ……. It is simply a matter of choice, a question of perspective.

The journey of a 1000 miles does not start with a single step - but with an intention, a desire and a choice. So the really, REALLY, interesting question is - What do you choose? And when you choose that - how does it feel, what do you sense, and what is the emotion? You DO KNOW, all it takes is to slow down, just once, allow yourself a little time and space, and LISTEN.

That's a lot of double negatives.

Pete, as an example, I think there are many people today, who consider themselves as spiritual beings, that are afraid to think. It's almost “against their religion” to think, and they have all those impressive explanations to why they can't think. And that's a tragedy and a waste we can't afford if we truly want to get out of our old-world shell.

Great advice.  From now on, I'm going to strive every day to be the first monkey.
