This may be what Froude said, but he was not an accurate observer of nature.
It has been my observation that many predators kill for “sport”.
Mustelids are particularly extreme in this. A ferret in a breeding colony of birds will often kill dozens for every one it eats.
Cats can do the same.
Wolves/dogs have also often go on killing frenzy - apparently just for the sport of it. Dogs and wolves worry sheep, and will kill and maim far more than they can possibly eat - again it seems they just like doing it.
(I have personally observed all of the above.)
Orca will sometimes take seals and penguins and play with them - discarding them when finished.
Humans are no different from any other predator in this regard.
It is a myth that is simply false and serves no one, and does not deserve to be perpetuated by an organisation like Zaadz.
