Earon,
I love your quote and please keep on posting!  The message of your quote that desperate love never works is right on target.

You know, Jim,
This isn't a question of whether or not Earon's message is 'right on' or not. Nor is It a matter of discouraging Earon's ideas, or your Ideas.
The problem is whether or not an individual ought to be putting his or her own ideas into the Quote Library.
I maintain that a “quote”, is something that someone else said or wrote somewhere, in a book or a play or a movie.
If you published a poem, and then included a few lines in an essay that you wrote, then you would be quoting yourself. – However, if you thought of something clever, or useful to say, and posted it here on Gaia, then you would be making a statement.

The Quote Library was designed so that people could share inspiring things that they read, or heard elsewhere.
If you wrote it yourself, there are plenty of resources on Gaia for sharing–any idea at all!
The quote library is a place for sharing stuff that you found elsewhere which was useful to you. There are tools in place for adding the author of the quote and the source where you read or heard this, so that any reader can find the original. When you post your own little statements, there is nowhere else to go, the post becomes a dead end which ultimately refers back to you– the author.
The fact is that what you have to say is just as quotable anywhere else on Gaia. It is just as read able. It has just as much power and meaning.
When you post your own statements to the Library, all that you add is your own ego. You are in effect putting this before the world and saying READ THIS!– WHAT I SAID IS VERY IMPORTANT!

It strikes me as a terribly childish thing to do.
A bit like going to the museum and pasting your own kindergarten drawing on the wall next to Leonardo's  Mona Lisa.

But I can see that you admire Earon and want to encourage him, even if his posting his own 'Musings' is inappropriate and childish.

What saddens me is that in posting here, Earon has sought to show that his own thoughts are valuable and quotable. While I Do think that he has something valuable to say, in this case, he is 'looking for love in all the wrong places.'  – and he has earned your support in that effort.

Sherab, I don't believe that you know me, so your judgments do not appear tempered by patience and a perspective that considers me as a whole person.  To you, I have behaved childishly and with excessive ego.  I will further consider your perspective.  If Gaia.com holds the same purposes and objectives and standards that you hold, then I will need to take down all of my quotes - except perhaps the ones that have been published elsewhere?

Some quotes from this website have been used in very wonderful ways around the world and I have not profited from them.  You would not have allowed this to happen, apparently.  Would the world be better off without them?

I ask that you consider your need to have things meet your particular standards and what it took for you to author your posting referring to my actions as “inappropriate and childish.”
