The truth about human beings is, above all other forms of truth, something far too susceptible to our own willful and subjectivist distortions; by nature we never JUST LET SUCH A THING BE, or accept it as it is. Of all the decisive and strategic things that an intelligent human being needs to know about human beings, primary on the list would be this: human beings are overwhelmingly profoundly RESISTANT to knowing the truth about human nature. The one creature in all of organic nature that is capable of KNOWING its own nature is also, paradigmatic over all other creatures, the one most IN DENIAL about that nature. To ask of mortals that they should "know themselves" is little more than a cruel joke, japing at their crippled mentality and personality. Their grasp of this structural perversity or contrariety within human nature is the basis of all Greek wisdom, their aristic "misanthropy" or principled and profound distrust of human beings as pseudophiliacs. All that human beings are willing to call "truth" (for the most part) is some saccharine or cosmetic sweetness and light, some soporific opiate against all in human existence that might demand the utmost self-discipline, rationality, self-mastery, or spirituality from them.

Believe those who are seeking the truth.  Doubt those who find it.

Between knowing and doing there is a great gap. Those who are willing to cross the gap find their greatness.

God thinks in balanced waves of light. His universal body is, therefore, in perfect balance. His entire universe does not vary in its balance by the weight of one electron. If there were the slightest variation in the balanced rhythms of God’s thinking – for even one moment – countless millions of lives on millions of planets in starry systems of His body would be snuffed out instantly and millions of years would elapse before life would again be possible upon those planets because of that momentary unbalance. Terrific eruptions upon nebulae and suns would transform them into entirely different intensities.
Yet that is exactly what happens to a man’s body when he becomes angry, or fearful, or hates another man. Our bodies are made up of countless miniature solar and starry systems exactly as God’s body is similarly constructed. If we upset the balance of their rhythmic motion, the wave-patterns become distorted and erupt with a violence measured by the intensity of the unbalanced emotion.
And that is not all, for an unbalanced and unrhythmic body is vulnerable to deadly microbes and other infections from which rhythmically balanced bodies are insulated.

Knowledge & Knowing.

To have knowledge and to know are two different things, and one is possible without the other.

Personally, I think intuition can be sharpened and expanded through meditation, diving into the Self. There's an ocean of consciousness inside each of us, and it's an ocean of solutions. When you dive into that ocean, that consciousness, you enliven it.

You don't dive for specific solutions; you dive to enliven that ocean of consciousness. Then your intuition grows and you have a way of solving those problems--knowing when it's not quite right and knowing a way to make it feel correct for you. That capacity grows and things go much more smoothly.

To know another human being in their essence, you don’t really need to know anything about them — their past, their history, their story. We confuse knowing about with a deeper knowing that is non-conceptual. Knowing about and knowing are totally different modalities. One is concerned with form, the other with the formless. One operates through thought, the other through stillness.

Knowing about is helpful for practical purposes. On that level, we cannot do without it. When it is the predominant modality in relationships, however, it becomes very limiting, even destructive. Thoughts and concepts create an artificial barrier, a separation between human beings. Your interactions are then not rooted in Being, but become mind-based. Without the conceptual barriers, love is naturally present in all human interactions.

It is by only knowing what I myself know that I judge myself, and the world I live in. Creative conflicts are peaceable ones. Egotistical conflicts are destructive ones.

If you think you know everything, you're screwed.  If you know you know very little, you're on  your way.  If you know Nothing then.......

There is a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.

There are those who will dismiss love as a naïve and romantic construct of our culture. Others will wax poetic and tell you that “love is all,””love is the bird call and the glint in a young girl’s eyes on a summer night.” Some will be dogmatic and tell you emphatically that “God is Love.” And some, according to their own experience, will tell us, “Love is a strong emotional attachment to another…”etc. In some cases you will find that people have never thought of questioning love, much less defining it, and object violently even to the suggestion that they think about it. To them love is not to be pondered, it is simply to be experienced. It is true to some degree all of these statements are correct, but to assume that any one is best or all there is to love, is rather simple. So each man lives love in his limited fashion and does not seem to relate the resultant confusion and loneliness to this lack of knowledge about love.

In discussing love, it would be well to consider the following premises;

One cannot give what he does not possess. Too give love you must possess love.
One cannot teach what he does not understand. To teach love, you must comprehend love.
One cannot know what he does not study. To study love, you must live in love.
One cannot appreciate what he does not recognize. To recognize love you must be receptive to love.
One cannot have doubt about that which he wishes to trust. To trust love you must be convinced of love.
One cannot admit what he does not yield to. To yield to love you must be vulnerable to love.
One cannot live what he does not dedicate himself to. To dedicate yourself to love you must be forever growing in love.

When a man begins to know himself a little he will see in himself many things that are bound to horrify him. So long as a man is not horrified at himself he knows nothing about himself.

However, given the ancient witness to contemplative knowing and the great abundance of evidence for psi phenomena, many sources of which I cite in subsequent chapters, it is a great mistake to exclude such things from our accounts of human nature.  That is why many, if not most, great thinkers since antiquity have given paranormal events and mystical truth claims a central place in their philosophies.  

The word secure comes from two small Latin words: se meaning "without" and cure meaning "care"--being without care, freedom from anxiety. Victor Hugo articulates this very special sense in this lovely couplet:
