The spiritual quest was always the predominant aspect of my life.  It's always been there.  But there's also an incredible passion connected to it; it's not just a dry investigative process.  I have been extremely emotional about it, and that comes out in the songs.

Mid-December is thus one of the most positively magical times of the year.  Things are possible during December's darkening days that are not even dreamt of at other spokes of the Wheel of the Year.  We should use this magic as a vehicle for deepening our awareness of the world around us and preparing our souls for the ongoing pilgrimage of our lives.  A seeker of Wisdom in the thrall of Winter's Solstice should consider their celebrations as a spiritual pilgrimage or even a quest, during which, through the disciplined use of the spiritual imagination, he or she may encounter one's own truest self along the way and in communion with Spirit.

To see the fire that warms you or, better yet, to cut the wood that feeds the fire that warms you; to see the spring where the water bubbles up that slakes your thirst and to dip your pail into it; to see the beams that are the stay of your four walls and the timbers that uphold the roof that shelters you; to be in direct and personal contact with the sources of your material life; to find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating; to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter; to find a quest of wild berries more satisfying than a gift of tropical fruit; to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird's nest or a wild flower in spring - these are some of the rewards of the simple life.

"Why is this happening?" is the most useless

question in the Universe.

The only really profitable question is, "What?" As in,

"What do I choose now?" This question empowers.

The "why" question simply perplexes, and rarely

satisfies even when it gets a good answer.

So don't try to "figure it out." Stop it. Just focus on

what you now wish to create. Keep moving forward.

The vine represents the journey into the outer world, the quest.  The ivy describes the journey within, the labyrinth.

It can be said that a Temple is most appropriate (i.e. Truthful) when considered as a center of communication and exchange between the gene pools of the various Spiritual Traditions.  A Temple which is anything other than a True Center (of Universality and Synthesis) - anything other than the Quest for equilibrium, neutralization, and/or unification of differences and discrepancies - only pretends a basis in Spirituality.

Once a new social stage appears in a culture, it will spread its instructional codes and life-priority messages throughout that culture's surface-level expressions: religion, economic and political arrangements, psychological and anthro-pological theories, and views of human nature, our future destiny, globalization, and even architectural patterns and sports preferences. We all live in flow states; there is always new wine, always old wineskins. We, indeed, find ourselves pursuing a neverending quest.

At each stage of human existence the adult man is off on his quest of his holy grail, the way of life he seeks by which to live. At his first level he is on a quest for automatic physiological satisfaction. At the second level he seeks a safe mode of living, and this is followed in turn, by a search for heroic status, for power and glory, by a search for ultimate peace; a search for material pleasure, a search for affectionate relations, a search for respect of self, and a search for peace in an incomprehensible world. And, when he finds he will not find that peace, he will be off on his ninth level quest. As he sets off on each quest, he believes he will find the answer to his existence. Yet, much to his surprise and much to his dismay, he finds at every stage that the solution to existence is not the solution he has come to find. Every stage he reaches leaves him disconcerted and perplexed. It is simply that as he solves one set of human problems he finds a new set in their place. The quest he finds is never ending.

The longest journey is the journey inwards. Of him who has chosen his destiny, Who has started upon his quest for the source of his being.

Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second's encounter with God and with eternity.
