Markets of the World (2003)

Open-air markets are present in all countries of the world. Much more than sources of supply, they are real places of communication and exchange. Varying in their dimensions or their theme according to economy and local customs, these markets are a direct reflection of the local social and cultural life.

These six episodes take us across the globe to sample the local flavor that gave rise to the major local market. We visit an ancient market place in Cairo then we visit the virtual paradises of Tahiti and Rio de Janeiro. Modern advancements bring new light and customers to marketplaces in Stockholm and Thailand. No matter the location, or the market, it is always the people that set the atmosphere for the marketplace.
