Acknowledging Spirit and Prayer

The word “spirit” comes from the Latin “spiritus,” which means “to breathe.”

In this powerful yoga talk, Troy Hadeed reveals the importance of this connection, understanding now that breath and spirit are one in the same. Through his realization that the simple act of breathing invites in a holy spirit, Troy shares how his practice has transformed into prayer. Mind, body, breath and spirit unite on the mat to form a practice that is powerful beyond imagination.

So beautifully said and so inspiring. I came from a Christian up bringing and resisted it for years until I came to yoga, Spirit just worked through me, changed me from the inside out and now I can completely relate to what you say about Spirit moving in and out with our breath, and asana being a prayer. It's so wonderful. Namaste

Oh my. I actually exclaimed out loud when I heard "spirit" is "breath." The lessons in this episode may change my entire relationship to my 18 years with yoga. Thank you, Troy. (I'm trying to figure out how to get this talk to my local guru. It is so profound.) Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Love.

Troy., your talks are so simple, clear and profound. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us so we can learn and grow in our yoga practice. I also come from a religious family and what you say brings the beauty of Spirit alive without striving. Very. very cool. Thankyou so much.

Thank you Troy,
I look forward to your talks and classes.
You share the truth in terms that are earthly, & relatable, which I find very powerful.

thank you Hadeed, so grateful to have come across this specific program
this spoke to the innermost soul seated at the center of the heart,
mind blown at your discovery of spirit, i too am born into catholicism and have been going through that mesh of the belief system
it means alot to see these things, put into yet another light, and see a side which was not yet revealed
thank your for helping me remember whats most important to practice and what it takes to truly live in yoga
