Open Minds: Ancient Giants in America with Richard J. Dewhurst (June 2014)

Season 4, Episode 22
Available worldwide

Long ago, North America was home to an advanced race of giants who built great mounds, mummified their dead and raised megalithic structures. Archeological finds support the indigenous lore of these pre-human civilizations, yet the evidence is buried away and considered a forbidden matter. Despite this suppression of information, Richard J. Dewhurst has uncovered proof that ancient giants once ruled America in this interview with Regina Meredith originally webcast June 10, 2014.

Richard J. Dewhurst is the Emmy Award–winning writer of Dear America: Letters Home from Vietnam, an HBO feature documentary. He is a graduate of NYU with degrees in journalism, film, and television, and has written and edited for the History Channel, the Arts & Entertainment Channel, PBS, Fox Television and Fox Films, ABC News, TNT, Paramount Pictures, and the Miami Herald.

The Spirit Cave mummy was dated at 9,400 years. There is mention of the textiles that were found with the remains. In fact, in a New York Times article, it's mentioned that the bag could have been purchased at a modern store!

What Richard J. Dewhurst didn't bring up about the Nevada cave site where the giant mummies were buried under several layers of guano is that these were the type that reportedly had double rows of teeth & had devolved into cannibalism, which is why the local Native Americans had in legend chased and burned them out there. So just as there is stories & evidence of giants with highly advanced cultures, there are also legends & discoveries of the "Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum" types, most likely the straggling surviving tribes & individuals of more "recent" (ie: human Bronze & Iron Age) history. It is sad.

In the British Pathe film "The World's Youngest Giant", the narrator sounds a lot like Alan Watts. He would have been 22 years old and still in the UK in 1936.

I wonder why Dewhurst didn't mention Watson Brake, the oldest mound structure in the US? This was dated and published by 3 universities in 3 different states. Poverty Point on the other hand has sometimes been called the largest prehistoric structure in the western world and has clear trade connections to many areas very far away. Yet these sites are rarely mentioned in any discussion of mound culture. I often wonder why?

Wonderful, insightful, educational, thrilling, motivational...
Regina has done it again.

Wow, this is an awesome interview. Paints a very wide picture of pre pre history. I worked for several years in the field of archaeology, mostly in Arizona. Our recording of sites was methodical and all the research tied in with earlier works to create a continuum, a coherent picture of history. Anomalies disappear in the process. Grin :-) it does take someone outside of a specialized field to blow the dust away and rediscover what has been neglected for whatever reasons. Thanks to Richard Dewhurst and others like Scott Wolter to inspire us.

Another great interview by Meredith...thank you, thank you! There is so much pradigm shattering evidence out there, it is beyond me why main stream continues to ignore it. Our history is much richer, much complexer, much more interesting than what has been forcefed to us since childhood. I make a conscious effort to expose my child to all that is out there. Although he is only elementary school age, I already find occasional resistance to taking this information in. It contradicts what he has been taught in school and causes him to have this almost fear like response to it although I make it fun and casual. Makes me question the value of public schooling. Unless we step beyond our narrow mindset, in all areas, we won't evolve as a species.

Hi Regina, I love any topic that blows my mind or makes me re-think so called "reality." Thanks to you and all your cutting edge guests that have to undergo ridicule and ruin to expose the fraud that the main stream archeologists and historians have hoisted upon the world psyche. Like you I'm withholding conclusions and I'm so glad this world is not as boring as they would like us to believe.

wow, this topic is fascinating. had no idea that in North America there existed these kinds of sites and findings. thanks Regina for another fantastic interview!

So we think we know everything. Wouldn't it be interesting to be a fly on the wall and really know what went on and the origination of all that is being discounted and left to our imagination. So much we don't know and understand. I thank you for bringing this subject up and for all Richard's work.

Another source of interest is America Unearthed with Scott Wolter, a forensic geologist, who has examined some of the sites mentioned in this program. The show is not on right now, but may be coming back for another season.

I saw his series! The history he has revealed is complimentary to this interview. So worthwhile to look up Scott's work to help fill out the pre history of North America.
