Landscape as Muse: The Blasthole Pond River with Marlene Creates (2008)
Marlene Creates takes us up the tolt, down the droke, and into the Blasthole Pond River. She is part of the St. Johns art community in Portugal Cove. This area is an art lab for her to explore her relationship with the terrain. As we wind our way through the forest, she explains her growing connection with the land. Along the way, she takes photographs.
She has been keeping a visual notebook of the changes that take places through the seasons. She shares some of this book as well as what it means to her. She sums up her work as allowing for a multifaceted way of thinking about a place.
