Unusual Cultures: Bombay & West Bengal (2012)

Episode 12
Only available in Canada, United States

We travel to India, where a colorful culture with ancient traditions awaits us. We will travel from the ocean shore all the way to the rooftop of the world. First, we’ll go to Bombay (now known as Mumbai, having been restored to its original name), the past and current gateway to India. It is both the wealthiest and most expensive city in India. Then we’ll travel to the state of West Bengal, which stretches from the shores of the Indian Ocean all the way to the foothills of the Himalayas. We begin in Calcutta and the sacred Ganges River, then take a ride on a historic railway to Darjeeling, within sight of Mt. Everest, famous for its tea and a home for Tibetan refugees.
