After a yoga practice I generally feel so much better. I find it surprising though to note the difference between a practice like this one and typical Vinyasa practice! I feel so much more balanced and stable. I also find Kundalini Yoga much more doable in the morning where my body feels stiff and doesn't like jumping into standing forward bends, downward facing dogs or pigeon poses. I would love to find more Kundalini Yoga classes here at Gaia, the series with Guru Jagad are really amazing.

What a great series on Kundalini Yoga! For years I am doing KY, which is my favourite yoga :-) . I really enjoyed practicing together with Guru Jagat. She is a truly gifted Kundalini Yoga teacher. Her instructions are very clear and I love all her detailed explanations! Thank so so much! SAT NAM.

Great content, thank you so much!
Only one question: For some of us lacking A LOT in flexibility and core strength (me :)) even a "beginner" level practice offers a lot of challenges. Is there any possibility for alternative/less challenging versions of the postures in this video? I found some of them incredibly challenging and difficult to maintain for the amount of time held in this session. For example I wasn't able to sustain the 'cuddling' pose for more than +- 70% of the required time (my neck was literally unable to sustain itself at some point) and I cannot really squat down properly (lack of flexibility on the hips and heels, that makes me go down no more than "half" way). Is there an alternative way to do the squat posture?

Sat nam DMOLIN,

Thanks for practicing with me. With Kundalini Yoga I think it's always important to keep in mind that it's a yoga practice - not perfection.
Support your head when you need to, squat as deeply as you can and place a bolster or pillow under your heels to help you hips to open.
You'll find, and I hope you did this time around, that even if your asana practice isn't "social media perfect" :-) that you'll still get a lot of
benefit, healing and energy from your practice. Sink your mind into what you CAN do and see what opens up for you.

With love &
Sat Nam,
Guru Jagat

Sat Nam!

Blessings to you on your yoga journey. I am a new Kundalini Yoga teacher, so I don't know all there is to know but I can offer you what I do!
For the 'cuddling' pose (I LOVE that ;), and really all poses that you have a challenge with maintaining, give your best effort to overcome the mental barriers to your success, but always do what you need to to support your body's current capabilities. If you need to put your head down, do so. Stay with the breath and the awareness of the moment. Keep chanting Sat Nam with each inhale/exhale, and mentally see yourself holding the full posture. Keep re attempting the pose, but be compassionate with yourself so that your focus stays with your breath and not with your worry or criticism.
For squats, use a bolster under your heels. Use a really thick one (4-6 inches)! See if that helps you come down further, as there isn't as much flex required in the ankles. Experiment with different widths of your feet to help with your hips. And though I haven't seen this done, perhaps try the pose laying on your back with your knees bent and wide, feet flexed, arms straight up. You want to achieve pressure on the kidneys with this posture.
Hope this helps you!
