Biologist Vic VanBallenberghe has spent more time living with wild moose than anyone in the world. So much time in fact that he was absent for much of the childhood of his only son. Determined to learn more about the father he hardly knows, Vic’s son, documentary filmmaker Jonathan VanBallenberghe, chronicles a season of his father’s research at Denali National Park in Alaska. While capturing the most extensive and up-close HD footage of moose ever caught on film and learning about this majestic animal, Jonathan recognizes the magnificence of Vic’s life work, and a gap is bridged between father and son.

I have always loved moose and wanted to see one in the wild. I've been to Alaska and Newfoundland, both places where there are abundant moose, and no luck yet (although I didn't spend enough time in wild spaces while there!).This documentary made me love moose even more and now I'm dreaming of where I'll travel to next, to try and get a glimpse of these magnificent creatures myself. Watching this documentary moved me in many ways. I especially loved the scenes of the newborn; I was inspired by the example of the father who has a career that allows him to be outdoors and connected with nature most of the time; and I enjoyed watching the friendship between father and son blossom during the making of the movie. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and inspiring story.

This was an excellent documentary of moose and its predators and other wildlife. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and learning a lot about moose I never knew. It has inspired me to want to go more into the outdoors to be closer to these magnificent beautiful animals. Watching much of the scenes of Anchorage and Danali National Park reminded me of the time I was fortunate enough to go to these places and how exciting it was to be there. The filmmaker did an excellent job filming the scenes taken for this movie. Everyone should see this.

thank you for reminding me of the special privilege it was to once live in Alaska and experience the unique thrill of encountering moose in my back yard.

Too bad the majority of hunters won't watch this..would change their prospective on hunting these beautiful animals and all the others for sport.

Such a beautiful place, Alaska. I now have much more respect for the moose there. Thank you for this documentary!
