Responsible Business: Corporations Tackling the Global Water Crisis (2008)
More than 1.2 billion people, about one-fifth of the world’s population, lack access to safe drinking water. With changing climate patterns and a planet that is continuing to get warmer, it’s going to become harder to quench the thirst of an ever increasing world population. In this episode we meet companies that are collaborating with governments, NGOs and international agencies to implement solutions for the conservation and development of global water resources.
These companies are developing tomorrow’s technology to transport today’s water with minimum waste. We learn about a European Union initiative to improve water quality and hygiene in Kenya. In Singapore, we visit a company that is recovering drinking water from sewage.
