Landscape as Muse: Cumberland Delta with Landon Mackenzie (2007)
We are in the Cumberland Delta with painter, Landon Mackenzie. It's the second largest freshwater delta in the world and people come from all over the world to study it. She explains that she is interested in this landscape on so many levels: historical and geographical and in terms of what we are doing as humans, how we live with it, how we live with the planet.
We view many of her paintings that showcase her developing work through the years. This trip, to the delta, is about gathering small ideas. She wants the little motifs that capture the small functions of the mind to explore how it merges with the ever shifting delta. Finally, in the studio, these small motifs combine to form wall sized works of art that synthesize her experiences on the delta.
