While trying to grab my foot behind me, my rib muscles went into a spasm on both legs. Do I need to warm up my ribs before trying this asana?

kregweiss, posted on September 11, 2016

Hi sallyskr1, It is difficult to offer precise recommendations as there are many muscles that cross and interact with/around the ribs. Best recommendation is to approach those poses more conservatively and enter them much slower to see if the same reaction of the muscles occurs. If so, some modifications should be applied as we should never practice in discomfort.

warm thanks @fionaarrand and @Solara for sharing your warm feedback on this foundational practice - using the techniques in this flow have tremendously helped me work through issues in my knees

Thank you Kreg - What a beautiful, relaxing and powerful practice - I spend a lot of time on my feet when I am training and I will return to this as I felt the benefit in my legs the moment I focussed on my centre of gravity

You have a very relaxing, clear way of walking us through the postures. I really enjoyed the awareness you brought to that centre line to take care of the knees. Thank you.

Loved every minute of this practice. I have an old injury in my left knee that sometimes bothers me and always had weak knees, so I always try not to stress them. Thanks to this practice, it will be much easier from now on.
