Eye of the Needle: An Ayahuasca Journey (2012)

Available worldwide

A visually striking exploration into the Peruvian Amazon and further into the depths of human consciousness. For thousands of years, the Ayahuasca brew has been used by indigenous tribes as a medicine, a therapy and a gateway beyond this world. The active ingredient is DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), which induces intense, occasionally nightmarish hallucinations lasting for up to 12 hours.

Guided by shamans, a person enters the eye of the needle – and faces visions of absolute truth, his demons, his fear, his loved ones – to emerge enlightened and reborn.

One of the best presentations of a personal experience recreated I've seen. Do more.

This film confirms my own observation that hallucinogens can be valuable since they can offer a new perspective.

I dropped acid in the 70's and stopped all drugs in 1988. I never took Ayahuasca, however I'm sure the experience was similiar. I mean to say I "got" the message, which was simply to love all life, animal, vegetable, and human. One thing I would say.

Psychedelics are certainly mind expanding, only there comes a time when one realizes (at least this was my take on it) that they can also get out of hand and cause more problems than they solve. Chanting, meditation, learning to astral-project, and various spiritual paths will also get you where these herbs do. Only...it takes time AND work AND consistency.

I have seen many films about this subject, I seem to be attracted to them, over and over..... I think SPIRIT wants me to take this journey. I AM READY, ARE YOU ???

I urge you caution... You can suffer irreversible side effects from hallucinogenic drugs. If you are feeling there is a force that is telling you to do this there is concern already. Please research. The brain is very delicate and one can often not predict the outcome. A constant state of Schizophrenia for the rest of your life could become your hell.

I think you'll find that Ayahuasca is far safer than most pharmaceutical drugs, and probably safer than all recreational drugs including LSD.

I challenge you to find studies that confirm your statements above about permanent psychoses caused by Ayahuasca. I think you'll find you come up empty. It's been used for thousands of years, and is completely safe if practiced within the confines of a ceremonial space, overseen by a shaman and facilitators that are knowledgeable and caring enough to keep the participants out of harms way.

Most of the films on hallucinogens present the positive side. There's an equally strong negative side. Are you ready for that as well?
