Fall Yin Restorative Practice

Available worldwide

In the autumn, the Chinese Five Elements system promotes the lung and large intestine meridian lines to ensure that sufficient heat is drawn inward and downward, preventing imbalances that may result in the common cold, constipation, or insomnia. This yin yoga practice with Melina Meza is a wonderful way to help restore your sense of balance after a long summer. In addition to calming the restless and anxious energy of fall, the longer held postures in this class will help prepare your mind, body, and spirit for meditation.

I have a bad virus at the moment with lots of coughing. The postures that opened up the lungs gave me some relief. Thank you.

I absolutely love this music. I've looked for it online and on iTunes but I can not find it anywhere to purchase for my home practice and teaching. Can you help please?

I started this class this morning feeling blocked and tensed after an overloaded stress week.
Little by little, breath after breath I felt energies circulating again. Some tensions gone away.
No more sensation of heaviness.
Now, I'm relaxed and connected to my breath again :)

Peace & Light ♥

This class is an enjoyable sequence of yin poses for when you are short of time, with nice sentiments from the instructor throughout.

I liked how she includes the chinese medicine principles and the ayurveda ones. Just enough theory to help focus on the organs and still meditating. I added this practice to the 21 days guide 'the balanced you' to add the metal element, and it fits perfectly! Thank you Melina

This practice was perfect for the tail end of a cold. I felt like it cleared out some gunk from my lungs and nose and allowed easier breathing overall. A great way to start my day.... Thank you!

I love this video. I wish it was longer. Thanks!!

msvstocks, posted on October 30, 2012

Just did this one for the first time, but had a problem with breathing through my nose, as it was plugged. I do not have a cold. What can I do about this?

amborg2, posted on October 21, 2012

Wow, I have asthma/COPD. Fall is my worst time and this practice is awesome. I immediately felt clearing and expansion in my lungs. The poses also stretched and supported those muscles that become sore and tight when my asthma is active. This will be part of my regular routine for this season! Thank you so much. Namaste

yin4ever, posted on September 24, 2012

excellent. Short and sweet. Would enjoy a longer fall yin practice!

I loved listening to the teacher , but I found the second pose very uncomfortable and had to FF :( The music was wonderful too

Thank you, this was lovely. Short videos are great for moms with young kids- the relaxation is much needed.

I found these poses to be extremely uncomfortable. The teacher is very knowledgeable and in all of her seasonal yin yoga classes she does a great job explaining how the body reacts to each season.

On a beautiful fall day my body heard itself through tis practice.

NicoleUrdang, posted on September 30, 2011

Great poses. I would also like something a bit longer, like 45 minutes. Thank you!

Yes, we do hope to have more content with Melina, some longer practices included! For now, have you explored all of her videos on this site?
While the video is open on the screen, click 'teacher' below to view all of her classes - there are 9 of them. Hope this helps!

Love your yin classes -- do you have any that are longer? At times I feel the voice is a bit business like and would a more soothing sound. Thanks!

Fall Yin Practice .it is so wonderful I have a great passion for a Yin practice .........for all seasons........my favorite too.

SuLeslieMama, posted on November 6, 2010

Enjoyed the class. A suggestion - feel like there needs to be a child post or sitting forward bend after cobra to counter the stretch. That was what I had to do to release the tension in the back. Other than that, I would definitely return to this practice. Thank you!

This 22-minute practice packs a big punch. I feel completely rejuvenated and re-grounded. I enjoyed learning about how the body and mind were affected in the fall - it resonated.

ElaineC@GTV, posted on September 7, 2014

Yes it's very interesting... the way we can learn sink up with the seasons and live in harmony :)

I have loved that practice that felt so short, and loved the sharing about traditional knowledge (chinese, ayurvedic ...), I'll look for more videos from Melina.
