Flipside: My Journey into the Afterlife (2011)

Available worldwide

Award-winning filmmaker Richard Martini explores startling new evidence of life after death via the "life between lives," where we reportedly return to find loved ones, soul mates and spiritual teachers.

The film is based on the evidence of thousands of people who claim that under deep hypnosis they saw and experienced the same basic things about the afterlife. Included are interviews with hypnotherapists from around the world trained in the method pioneered by Dr. Michael Newton, along with filmed past-life-regression sessions.

Thank you Richard. Well done. I too have read all of Newton's books and I recommend that my clients read them as well. It's good reminder as to why we are here. It's all about compassion, forgiveness and love.

I've read Dr. Michael Newton's books and very much enjoyed this documentary. For those of us who believe energy never dies and just changes form, this is affirmining. The world needs more messages and information like this. Continue the good work getting the message out to all! Thank you to Richard Martini!

This documentary is spot on. We create contracts with other souls to design our next life time experiences. One day i was sick and felt really horrible. I was laying in bed and i looked at the end of my bed and saw these two little children running up to my bed and jump and sat next to me. Then a tall man dressed from the 30's walked to the head of the bed and sat next to me. I could actually see through them like a hologram, i knew they were spirits. I felt like i knew these children and man. Their image disappeared but their energy was still presen because i kept placing my hand in the area of where they last was and the energy was so vibrant. So i knew they were still there.

who were they? did you recognize them from a past life? Are they in your life now?

This is such a deep, insightful documentary that it will move you to tears. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

This video plays for 30 seconds then freezes for 60 seconds. It to annoying to watch it under this circumstance.

I really enjoyed this film. I read Dr. Newton's book back in 2010. This has a lot of great examples to see and research shared. I enjoyed this immensely and hope similar themed films are created and shared here. I agree with others, I had to pause the film to read and to back up to catch important phrases that were part of a story, that part could be done better in the future.

I read Micheal Newtons books a few years ago and have done a past life reading while in college, I absolutely think this sort of work is of the utmost importance. I was stoked to see and hear from Dr. Newton in the movie. I have been talking and spreading the word about past life regression and between life regressions for a few years now. I hope more movies like this will make the concept of hypnotherapy more mainstream and help more people... mental illness and psych wards need more hypnotherapist for healing... self healing... less medication. I love hypnosis, such an undervalued natural tool in our society.. at least were I am from you dont see hypnosis taken very seriously.

Why doesn't the hypnotists ever ask such people as these to answer in the language that they knew during the period that they are describing? That would possibly make world news. It really is strange that everyone, even from Jerusalem, speaks English.

I believe that Dr Brian Weiss has asked this of his patients {I've read all his books on past lives but that was a long time ago} but it seems maybe he couldn't break patient confidentiality, & it was from about 30 years ago. He was head of the College of Psychoanalysts for many years, keeping his findings secret for decades.

While I found the information enlightening, the editing was distracting. Some of the written material on screen was important but appeared at the same time as the subject/person on screen was saying something of equal importance. As a result, I pressed pause at least twenty times to read the quotes or written insights before playing the audio so as not to miss anything. There were other times when the narrator read the words on screen verbatim and you can actually hear the mouse clicking in the background as each new set of words appears. All that aside, the subject matter was interesting enough to make it worth watching.

Really good stuff but had to constantly pause in order to hear and read everything.

The video and audio quality is so poor for something made in 2011 that it makes the message hard to connect with.

Nicely doneā€¦great reminders on how every moment has purpose and how wonderfully we are connected at all levels of Being!

Such a clear cut message. The consciousness of the world is rising even amongst poverty, corruption and the worst of the lot -War.
Non judgment, unconditional love and light energy, this film has helped us to keep striving for these values. When you think about it,everyone just wants to be loved, so why not show it.
And I will be definitely booking in for a past life regression session, maybe I will find out why my big toe is always hurting, no matter what I do :)
Thanks, great film.

Such a beautiful film. I have been studying all areas of the after life ever since my out of body experience as a youngster . I try to pass on this experience but now at last I will recommend this film instead . Thanks for the clarity

I made myself past life regressions, and in some of them, I was not human looking and I was not on this planet, so my question is :
Why in this whole documentary, you only speak about reincarnation on earth ? I cannot believe that 7000 people regressing didn't see them in other living forms or other planets ?

sunshinemine, posted on March 22, 2016

Martini refers to this in his interview with George Noory in Beyond Belief, also available on Gaiam TV. Michael Newton shares quite a bit about clients who, indeed, have incarnated on other planets and different dimensions, I believe.

ksfleisher, posted on November 20, 2014

I read in some book- I wish I could remember which one- that each planet is for different types of learning, and that Earth is actually not the most advanced planet out there for souls to incarnate on. Again, I can't remember the book, so don't pin too much on that, lol.

NicoleD2, posted on April 8, 2014

Yes I thought this too, I was also thinking of all things made of energy e.g.: animals & plants. Who knows? Hopefully they will do another film about this subject.

This movie reminded me of my Past Life Regression I experienced about 20 years ago. In regression I stood in the dessert, with my arms spread to the side and my legs apart, palms up and than it happened. The feeling of being one with all there is, was so all consuming, but the excitement of wanting to share it with others took me out of it. Re-experiencing the feeling has never happened again for me. Knowing it gives me great comfort.

rajdreamz, posted on January 22, 2014

beautiful documentary, only...
we don't always return to THIS planet. There are not only innumerable planets harboring life--there are uncountable galaxies AND universes AND dimensions. Creation is eternally expanding.

emiliadauteuil, posted on January 21, 2014

Great movie it confirmed so many thoughts and feelings I've had in the past on this subject. I think this method could be the answer to the big question so many of us have asked ourselves "Why am I here"?

A great reminder of what's true. Heartfelt, illumnating, and well-done

My apologies for quality control issues. Since I was the one reading the voice over aloud, I was guilty of trying to put too much info onto the screen. Sorry about that. I originally set out to make this documentary, and after about 20 hours I realized it was too broad of a subject to cut into 90 minutes. So I wound up writing a book instead, which includes transcripts from all of these sessions (and more). After I'd finished that, I realized I could make the documentary a companion piece to the book, and not worry about trying to explain what between life therapy is. (I also created an audio book version for those who don't want to read the transcripts.) If the video ended abruptly as one person pointed out, please contact Gaiam; it shouldn't end abruptly. For the person pointing out the price of LBL therapy is as practiced by those trained by Michael Newton - it really depends what you are searching for. Some therapists do two sessions - one an introductory session, and the other a deeper between life session - costs depend on where that person has their practice. In my estimation, the price for this form of therapy is roughly the same or less than other therapies per hour - the different is that these sessions last typically 4-6 hours. That being said, I think it's not for everyone, and meditation and going within are both worthy substitutes and made lead one to the same place. I think this form of therapy most benefits those who have suffered a trauma they can't get past - or are having difficulty with their current life journey. In my case, I did two sessions, not because I was seeking that kind of help, but as a journalist to see where I might go. Even then, I suggest making sure the therapist you choose is compatible, read their online reviews, speak to them personally, listen to their method of work and see if it makes sense to you. All I can say is that I'm still continuing to film these sessions (in preparation for the next book) and they continue to boggle my mind each time. Thanks for posting! Best, Rich Martini

I've read Michael Newton's books years ago and am now finishing up your 1st book, 2 to go. I have always loved this subject and can relate to your experience of your father saying "you can hear me". when my uncle died in the 90's I was surprised when he started talking to me I asked the same question, why aren't you with your family (he had 3 children at that time) why are you here with me? He said" you are the only one who can hear me" I asked him many questions on the night he died from a car crash. He went on an on about the colors in that realm and what color I was and told me what color all the family members were. I found out a couple of years later he was color blind in this life. Love your work.....keep bringing this into the consciousness of the planet.

I think this is a comfort to many. Interviewing aboriginal people with this method would give a vast amount of new information and will also verify whether this is only something our culture has created or all people face the same thing upon death. Interesting and well done.

Amazing information. I've had past life dreams and a couple of meditative experiences. Would love past life regression, but excessively expensive. One aspect of this doc I found annoying: Quotes and statements are put on the screen to read and they are not kept there long enough to finish reading them. (I am an avid reader) Sometimes the speaker will read them, but I could not read fast enough before they disappeared from the screen. It distracted me from hearing what was said in the background so I missed the verbal information as well as the written.

Excellent documentary, I said to myself, "wow, this is something I could benefit from" so I decided to visit Dr. Michael Newton's website, do a search for a local therapist, visited the local therapist website, and slowly picked my jaw up off my desk, when I saw he charges from $300 to $589 for just ONE session. I thought to myself, "well, back to my daily meditations, and finding the answers within myself".

Fantastic comment and thank you for sharing it. The more research I do, the more I've come to see that everyone experiences the afterlife from their own unique perspective. We can talk about "soul groups" and "spirit guides" but everyone experiences them in a unique way. And I love the story about you and your husband in the waiting room and then "going on a vacation." I imagine that's pretty much what it's like. Of course perhaps not so for those who were out there shooting machine guns, but that's another topic altogether. Thanks for posting, Rich

Fantastic documentary beyond words, just loved it. I've had very profound spiritual experiences through regular meditation, sleep dreams, and using Holosync audio meditation, of seeing myself "grow old, die in Italy, (never been) casket engulfed in white light, and traveled to another dimension," flowing through Milky Way type tunnels, walking up a spiral staircase to a Crystal Cathedral Heaven, and God speaking to me, (NO religious background) and most recently a week ago, I had a dream that my husband and I were in the back of a large truck with several others, as Marshall Law had been called. The truck arrived at a detention center, and before we got out, a man in uniform began shooting at us with a machine gun. Terrified and crying, we said I love you to each other, and just held each other for the seconds we had left. Immediately after being shot dead, we found ourselves sitting quietly in a brightly colored room in a daze of sorts aware we all just died. I was aware rather quickly that we must be in the orientation room you speak of in the documentary. After a little while, a woman stepped into the room, and she opened another door into another world. From the doorway, I could see nature, trees, waterfalls, etc... She said, there is no pain, sorrow, loss...nothing but pure bliss for you to enjoy from here on out. I turned to my husband with a huge grin, and said, I can't believe we are about to go on a permanent vacation. :))) I strongly believe I would benefit from past life regression due to a re-occurring vision I have had from what could only be a past life, and to more fully understand and integrate these spiritual experiences. Are they past, future, or happening simultaneously??? So interesting because, like many others there was a time when I would of said this is nonsense. Thank you again for this wonderful documentary!

At time marker 108, a fellow is finishing up relating "the best (he) can come up with" re: evolution of the spiritual Soul and it was interesting, but unsatisfactory. The Spirit, or Athma, never changes throughout the duration of manifestation. The multitude of lives reincarnating feed the soul experience throughout manifestation at which time during the dissolution, or Pralaya, the Spirit that was the perfect Oneness of all beings (same Spirit as God) begins to evolve to a higher state of perfection for the same duration as the period of manifestation, then the whole process begins again on a more perfect level and while assuming nothing as to the changes in the process during its cycle, this process had no beginning and shall have no end. Study "Isis Unveiled" and "The Secret Doctrine," by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, study Theosophy.
