In this vinyasa practice with Andrea Marcum our core work will run much deeper than just sculpting bodies. Andrea uses center-strengthening postures to empower you to shape your own inspired reality. As a result you will feel core-ageous in ways that will allow you to navigate the liberation of being at sea. Ultimately we're all in the same boat and we all have moments when we could use a little wind in our sails. Yes, being at sea can have its ups and downs, but when we’re connected to ourselves at our very core these waves become a landscape of fluid freedom where new opportunity finds us.

Thanks again, I loved the difficult core sequencing, i love navasana...
questions:
how do you rock up to your feet so well, where is the body unity from, i am falling our of it.
and much later on when doing the hip elevating, is the block positioned under the butt, at the sacrum, ??

thanks, a

The roll up depends on a few things. One is mobility -- getting your feet underneath you enough for balance. That could be anything from the flexibility in your ankles to the understanding of the weight distribution in the momentum. One helpful trick might be to hold something like a 5 pound weight close to your chest as you roll back and then carefully extend forward as you plant your feet to come upright. That may help to understand the puzzle of organizing the momentum and pitching forward. Most of all let it be silly good fun and be careful with your beloved joints as they are far more important than the shenanigans. And yes, when you elevate your hips for a restorative bridge you want to place the block carefully under the tailbone and not in the kidney band. I often describe it as not the sway of the small of your back, but the boney part that is lower than that. This too you want to do with care and if there is any sharp pain (especially in your low back) at the very least lower the block, but also feel free to skip it all together. Ultimately we are practicing to take care of ourselves, not to wow people with our fancy moves :) Thanks a million for practicing with me and for your fabulous inquiry! xx A

andrea,
thanks just tried for a few moments again on the roll up to standing i seem to not be coming forward enough and so i fall back a bit at the end and catch myself with foot back--oh well, will see if it emerges.

Such a wonderful practice. I loved the gentle nature behind the core-ageousness! Such a great way to start a Friday and now I am looking forward to Martini's by the pool later... Pool not required, right!? Thanks again Andrea.

Every time I practice with one of your videos I learn something new! Whether it’s a new pose, a variation, an analogy, or a personal epiphany, I take something away from every routine. Today it was king pigeon- I got deep enough into the backbend to reach the crown of my head to my foot! Oh and all the time spent in wheel and bridge after all that core was absolute ZEN! You’ve really helped guide my transition from moderate/intermediate flows into more advanced practices and I wanted to let you know how appreciative I am! Keep up the amazing work :)
