Nico Luce guides you through an invigorating and hip opening class structure around the Hindu god Ganesha. Before entering a hindu temple, a statue of a chubby boy with an elephant head beckons you in. Ganesha, the elephant God, represents the beginning of the journey, the first chakra, & the remover of obstacles. This class will flow through a hip opening sequence designed to lighten your load, de-clutter your hips and works towards balancing on your hands in Dragonfly pose.

Do not perform twists if you are pregnant. Not ideal for those with knee or shoulder injuries. You do not need to perform the arm balance to successfully complete this class.

Music by Jami Sieber.

Thank you, Nico; peaceful challenge, soft and deep teaching, beatiful music. Its going to be a good day.

This is my most favorite practice and has been for quite awhile. Profoundly beautiful inspiring meaningful. The original opening pictures of Ganesha during the intro were so much more in tune with the message, perhaps changing it back?

Thanks for the comment, @HIKENRUNGATOR.
I'll let my friends from GAIAM get back to you about the opening pictures.

This is one of my favourite practices. The story, the teaching, the setting, the background music, and of course the poses. I feel re-balanced. Thank you Nico for your wonderful classes.

Jai Ganesha!

But why did you change the pictures in the introduction?
If possible....return the original to its most perfect status.

A very satisfying practice for body and spirit. I agree with @WendyMarie, for those who find some of the poses challenging, keep revisiting this practice. Today , on my 3rd or 4th visit to this practice, I made some progress towards Dragonfly. I have a long way to go, but for me, yoga is a journey. I try not to focus too much on the final destination ; rather, I try to drink in all the sights, sounds, and experiences along the way. I find that helps me to maintain an element of playfulness in both my life and my practice. And to Nico, your practices here are a gift and a blessing. Namaste.

Great advice! Practice and all will come, as P. Jois once said.

For those who may have challenges in mastering the practice -- just want to let you know that with continued practice and strengthening the core and hip muscles that I was able to make significant progress with this practice. When I first tried this a few months ago, I fumbled on the mat like a drunk toddler. Today my moves were sober-like and elegant. Stick with it! Thanks, Nico ;)

@Megamind Thanks for your comment and all the best with your practice.

I loved this class, I've been trying to figure out grasshopper pose for a while now, thanks to your explanation I now understand a lot better how to master it. Although it will take a bit of practice, I will go through the obstacles, until I succeed. This is the first time I have practiced with you and I thoroughly enjoyed it, thankyou. Namaste xx

This has been one of my favourite videos for a while now, and for the past few years I have been devoted to Ganesha and have called upon Ganesha to clear away obstacles. I even repeated the Ganesha chant while giving birth to one of my babies! :) Nico, this is a beautiful practice. Thank you!

I won't lie I was not wanting to do this practice or any other tonight after a long 12 hour shift-but I'm so glad I did. Gentle and relaxing and those hip openers were perfect. Thank you!
