Gladys Sylvestre grew up in Haiti and through her mentor, was offered the opportunity to move to the United States. After spending 9 years in the US, she returned to Haiti. After seeing and being adjusted to the conditions of the US, she was shocked to see children on the streets in her home country. She decided that she was put here by God to help these children. Working in Cité Soleil, the most impoverished slum of Port-au-Prince, she took over an orphanage where the children were scared and hungry. With the help from Richard Kline, she has started The Foundation for the Children of Haiti, where she provides children with medical help and adoption services, saving lives one child at a time.
