Growing a Lotus

Available worldwide

This well-aligned and dynamic vinyasa class taught by Shannon Paige is based on the wisdom of strength and container-ship in asana form and transition before any application of momentum. Shannon roots this class in the earthly seed qualities that will bloom in stages from simple to complex. The benefits of this progression of seated postures is a radical rooting of the head of the femurs deep into the socket, creating not just more easily opened hips but a quiet, soothing, and serene experience. Shannon progresses towards Lotus pose in one of the soundest and safest means possible to protect and respect the knees and ankles. Knees are the boss!

Where did the time go? That was a fantastic class with wonderful teaching. I could do another hour of it because it felt like 2 minutes. Natalie

I came here looking for wise, expert instruction; now Shannon Paige is my new definition of that.
I didn't come here looking for an attitude change, but happily this lesson has helped me discover a healthier way of relating to "growing my lotus."
Thank you, Shannon!

This class was a little advanced for me however the pace and instructions really guided me though and helped me expand my practice.

First time doing a class with you and I am very excited to do more! This was very enlightening. And I had an epiphany moment at the end with the whole "Is it happening now?" meditation. Thanks for teaching!

Thank you Shannon. As a life long student of ballet, flexibility had always been important to me and I can pretty much wiggle into most poses, the full lotus included. However the more I study and practice yoga the more I get out of it. I gravitate towards the teachers and practices that allow me to identify the proper placement and coming together of my body as a whole. Most times this slower approach it not easier but always gets me deeper and more easily into asanas because of the thoughtful instruction.

The femurs finding the hip sockets really did leave me with a sense of peace. Lingering even while I'm writing this an hour after I finished the practice.

Again, thank you for your guidance and I alwyad love the poems. Namaste

Probably the most informative video I've watched yet. Every so often I enjoy going back to basics and being coached through it with great detail. I can always learn to do it better. Loved thd extra info on the mind/body connections.

Shannon, I always enjoy your classes and this one is no exception. Your cues and the entire sequencing is precise, creative, and leaves room for many 'aha' moments on the mat and for the hours that come following the practice. Thank you, also, for sharing your poetry with us. Namaste.

thank you for the great instruction on blossoming the flower!
one question: what do you recommend for people when the hips are open enough to get into the pose but the ankles are limiting? are there stretches for the tops of the ankles?
thanks for your help!

that was amazing! i've never been even close to lotus pose. my hips just won't open up. You did a fabulous job of training my brain that it was ok to move this way. I was able to get there on the second try starting with my left leg! What a calming effect it had on me. thank you! and love the poetry. Your first step poem is one of my favs. Excellent practice. thank you! namaste <3

Thank you, Shannon. I didn't imagine the Lotus was as delicate and strong at the same time, as this practice is. Thanks!
