Lower Back and Hip Release

Available worldwide

Marla Waal will guide you through some massage style movements using massage balls in this 20 minute practice. This practice includes a foot massage and a deep twist to help release built up tension. Let your hips, pelvis and lower back breathe by sinking into gravity and gently rolling on some balls.

Props needed:  2 balls that are soft enough to roll on comfortably and a tennis ball.

I love all of Marla Wahl's classes! As a low-back pain sufferer, this is a great sequence to do every day. I finally get to use my squishy balls! The pace is relaxed with enough time in each section to really melt into it. The instructions are clear without over-talking. The foot sequence is divine. So many of us forget that our feet are the foundation of everything we do; it's essential to give them the same attention we give our backs. I will return to this again and again. Thank you, Marla! <3

The foot release felt dramatically different and amazing. Would love to see a yoga class incorporate more fascia release, perhaps on other areas of the body as well :) Loved this, thank you!

Thank you! This was exactly what my body needed after too much training! Ahhhhh!

I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist and I found this sequence to be so easy yet so effective! I actually use two 2 lb round hand weights (from Danskin) that provide the right amount of squish and the right amount pressure to get that massage feeling. Marla is so easy and relaxing to follow along with and I look forward to trying more of her videos!

I love to do this before bed. Feels wonderful. I found balls at an athletic store, Sports Authority, that are tennis balls for children, soft foam, the size she uses.

Lovely stretching was soooo tight and tense to start and soft and supple by the end. Namaste.

thank you for this! I have sciatica flaring even after two chiro crunches later, and this series energized my back area and took some of the pain away, even without the balls, which I am going to buy asap. I will be adding this to my healing process for sure!

This was a great class, with clear instruction at a good pace and particularly valuable to ease the lower back.

Hey Guys... sorry for my slow response to this question about where to buy balls that are similar to the ones I am using. there are a few options. Elaine Petrone has some with her name, also Eric Franklin (The Franklin Method) also has some pinkish red ones. You can order some from Barnes And Noble here;

Same questions as the person below... where can we buy the balls?

rudeboi88, posted on March 17, 2013

Hi, I am having trouble finding balls like the ones you used for the back. I find Swiss balls (too big), medicine balls (too hard), massage balls (spikey). Is there a name for the kind of balls you used or could you tell us where you got yours? :)

This one is great. I felt my back completely relax against the flow. Felt like a cat!!
