Inspirations: Lynne Twist and the Soul of Activism (2012)

Season 1, Episode 10
Available worldwide

Lynne Twist is the living embodiment of the committed life. The co-founder of the Hunger Project, the Soul of Money Institute, the Pachamama Alliance and, most recently, the 4 Years Go project, she works tirelessly to build a world that is environmentally sustainable, spiritually fulfilling and socially just.

In a highly candid and deeply inspiring conversation with Lisa Garr, Lynne spoke of her work and activism around the globe, the mentors who inspired her (including such remarkable icons as Buckminster Fuller and Mother Teresa), and the astonishing resilience of the people she’s partnered with, from shamans in the Amazon rainforest to mothers in Ethiopia who lost their children to famine.

Lynne speaks about the 2012 prophecies from the Mayans (and many others), and the need to wake up from our self-destructive materialistic trance and connect to a committed and compassionate life. Every one of us can make a difference; every one can contribute to a sustainable world. Tune in to this remarkable dialogue to discover the many ways to find your role in this awakening.

WOW I learned so much form this video. I loved her explanation that the people are not poor , it's their situation that is poor. We don't see how inventive the women are to keep their children feed, only how sad and rejected they look. Really opened my eyes and gave me a different mind set. Thank you Gaiam for this wonderful information. I can't wait to see the rest of the videos. I have printed all the pertaining information so I can read it later.

Within Christian tradition we sometimes refer to ourselves as being either a Mary or a Martha, referring to a Biblical story of two women. One was focussed on service and one was focussed on prayer. I thought,"How can this woman do all she can do?" Lynne is a story of what can happen when your life is a prayer asking how you can serve. So inspirational and amazing.

Extraordinary woman. I almost passed this one up thinking it might be a Public Television type of interview similar to ones I have seen before. It blew me away. Thank you, Lynne Twist for sharing your story and Gaiam for the interview.

This beautiful interview gives hope and makes us realize that we don't have to do it alone and that there are many people actively involved in making a difference, right here, right now. I'm heading to fouryearsgo and pachamama alliance websites right now. Thank you Lisa Garr and Lynne Twist. We need many more of these inspiring conversations.
