Foam rolling has become very popular and many people attest to its benefits. It is certainly easy enough for you to try it and see if you get benefits from it. Do you have less fatigue, post workout pain, less inflammation, increased range of motion? Why you get the benefits is not totally understood. There are many theories. One theory that you are directly affecting the superficial fascia has been tested and the results do not verify the hypothesis. But other studies have noted a significant effect in the deeper tissues. Again, if it works for you - do it!

what do you think about foam rolling to help break up fascia or loosen muscles?

Now I understand why I really do not want to go even 1 day without practicing! I practice every morning except for Saturdays when I am not able to, and I have been finding lately that I really want to slip in an evening lunar practice on Saturday nights! Now I know why!!! I thought it was just that I had become unaligned, but I see there is more to it! Thanks!
