I'll try and watch again if the background music is gone. Sorry but it was too distracting for me.

coachevak, posted on July 25, 2016

I could not listen to this at all with the very distracting background music. too bad.

ecalarese, posted on March 1, 2016

It's very annoying and distracting. I'm turning the volume up to hear the dialogue, but the music is louder then too! Has potential, but can the background music please.

thekristengregg, posted on September 15, 2015

This is so well done and I'm so grateful for this work, but the music is very distracting and almost anxiety producing. This material doesn't need to be amped up with mysterious music - it can carry itself. Regina Meredith, her questions, her content - it can stand on it's own!

heather.n.stephenson, posted on August 12, 2015

I had to quit watching what I thought was a fascinating interview because of the constant sound effects. Very loud and annoying.
Hope this will be reposted at some point with it removed.

ceridwen59, posted on May 16, 2015

Must agree with many that the background music is extremely distracting and loud. I do not see a purpose to the music. It adds nothing meaningful to the interview. It actually makes me want to stop the video and go on to something else.

wilhelm, posted on May 2, 2015

The part of the interview I was able to watch, is fascinating but I find the background sounds and music too distracting, making it difficult to focus on what was said. Please, can't we just listen to conversations without added sounds (noise)? Why, in a world of so much sensory overload, is gaiamtv now joining this trend? One primary reason why I chose gaiamtv is because my psyche is spared excessive, hence exhausting sensory input when watching programs. I could watch no more than ten minutes because of the distracting background sound effects, or whatever it is called.

pippie, posted on April 21, 2015

All these comments in regard to the distracting background music & not one single response from GAIAM TV. I urge you to respond to the comments below & acknowledge your paying customers feedback. In my opinion, it's rude and dismissive not to.

pippie, posted on May 1, 2015

So I've just finished watching another interview & see in the comments someone has asked how to sign up to Gaiam. I see that you have replied immediately to this person, yet I am still waiting over a year later for a repIy from you. Future income stream have anything to do with it as opposed to 'already paying' customers. Gaiam, I never experienced such poor service when Regina was broadcasting through Conscious Media Network. Very disappointing indeed.

mebriankcrosby, posted on April 5, 2015

The background music was completely unnecessary. I couldn't take more than five minutes of this!

hedrowin, posted on February 4, 2015

I love the ideas for this show, and hope to see you continue it... but yes, I must agree, the music is too loud.

alcock_scott, posted on October 17, 2014

I find it hard to listen too. The back round music is to loud

kelly.bowman, posted on May 5, 2014

I wished they would make more. It was dissapointing that they didn't make more episodes.

cathybyhand, posted on March 14, 2014

Agreed with most everyone here. Many of the documentaries on Giam have this "music", sound effects - I gather this is considered creative. But it is not necessary, wasteful - we are using too much energy to separate it from the talking. Meredith, you know your audience - YOUR other shows are far more credible than this show "feels" (despite the content).

whitehawk, posted on March 3, 2014

PLEASE let Meredith's interview be aired without the 'background' NOISE!

pippie, posted on December 21, 2013

Can somebody from GAIAM TV please respond to the feedback from many viewers who have paid to listen to this interview. Clearly, there are a number of people who have issue with the monotonous distracting background 'noise'. Thank you & look forward to your feedback

pippie, posted on April 21, 2015

Does anyone from GAIAM TV read these comments? I posted this comment/question over a year ago & are STILL waiting for a reply. Please advise asap

wissel4me, posted on November 14, 2013

The shows subject and interviews are great. Meredith is a wonderful guide. The weird sound effects and over dubbing is terribly distracting and I almost stopped watching. Please leave the awful fake castle background out. Your audience is more intelligent than you give us credit for.

tzuliep, posted on November 13, 2013

Would love to have been able to watch this but couldn't hear dialogue over the loud monotonous music.

The same applies to many of the other programmes. Probably programme editors don't understand that people over the age of 35-40 cannot easily separate dialogue from background music. Regina please watch this episode and consider a version without the music so we can hear what is been said.

Lolk, posted on September 6, 2014

I'm in my mid sixties and had no problem hearing any of this. I like the background setting. The content is what's most helps to use your abilities to focus on the central message.

WhiteKnite6, posted on November 12, 2013

I didn't make it 5 minutes before I became annoyed by that loop during the interview. It doesn't add to the atmosphere, if feels like you're hearing something coming through the wall from another room that prevents you from concentrating.

I see others agree.

jenhar, posted on November 11, 2013

I agree, lose the music. The audio level is so low, this is really distracting. If you want to lead into a segment, fine. But tail out quickly.

jenhar, posted on November 11, 2013

audio / video sync is way off. A huge amount of buffering. Can't HEAR the program in spite of upping all the audio levels to the highest available. Might be good if I could hear it.

tom_delaney12, posted on November 9, 2013

Thanks I love this show but please no music while the guest is speaking, I love Regina for her insightful and intelligent interviews and the music is distracting and a staple of the kind of shows that make me glad I can watch Gaiam and get a more in depth and less sensational understanding of a subject.

alkimia2012, posted on November 9, 2013

This is AMAZING work!!!

debilg, posted on November 6, 2013

I read all the comments below, but I personally think the programs are great, I could not wait for them to start! I just tuned out the back ground noise, to me it did not distract that much, would rather it not be there but would not stop me from watching the interviews. it is just different from her other shows but so is the theme, I really enjoyed the content of the interviews. I look forward to the new one tomorrow!! Thanks Regina!!

leighannweber, posted on November 6, 2013

I want to first say that I love Regina and her work. I know she puts much thought and consideration in to her efforts. I loved the other episode "Encounters". I was only able to get 5 minutes in to this episode before having to turn it off. The music was so utterly distracting to the discussion that I could not continue despite the fact that I really wanted to. Please, please, please find a way to release this video without the music. I totally support Regina's creative direction but I would really like to be able to hear the subject matter. Keep up the great work Regina, I love Phenomena!

bethandray, posted on November 6, 2013

My partner and I agree with everyone about the music. It is extremely distracting! We have been fans of Regina's for a long time and have historically looked forward to watching new shows as soon as they have come out. I couldn't sit through this one. The noise and the editing made it impossible to stick with it and concentrate on the important subject matter that is being offered.

I read your blog entry dated 11/6/13 regarding the show. It is unclear what direction you are going with the show by reading it. We'll keep checking in to see how the program progresses, but it is disappointing thus far. I am open to a new format, but thought we would be getting in depth discussions on Phenomena with some respect for both the interviewer and the subject matter that would take the discussion to a new level.

rrmiller7, posted on November 6, 2013

Yes, please do away with some of the cheesy editing, and stylized effects. It takes away from the legitimacy of the content.

Edward.k, posted on November 4, 2013

Thank you for creating this show. This is what I've been looking for. Regina, you are awesome! I love you. Looking forward to more episodes. :)

VICKYD, posted on November 3, 2013

WOW! Here I thought it was just me not liking the background music because I have raging Tinnitus, and I don't need any more distractions from hearing what is being said. By reading the responses so far it seems even people without ringing in their ears hate the annoying background music too.

KatWilliamson, posted on November 3, 2013

For the love of God, please 86 the background music! Tried to watch this, but was so distracted by the background music, had to turn it off. Regina, you deserve better than this!

tuvi, posted on November 4, 2013

Well said, I couldn't agree more ;)
I had to skip this one because the music was comically distracting!

JoanneUp, posted on November 3, 2013

I love this new series! It's a "phenomenon" for certain. All I might suggest is that the eerie background music, at least for me, distracts from my concentration on the subject at hand. Otherwise, it's fresh and exciting.

alocrius, posted on November 3, 2013

Yes, it is a shame that the material is trivialized by the hokey music and background. All of us are here because we respect the material and take it seriously. This is exactly the kind of crap mainstream media does and what I thought you didn't stand for Regina. ?? I won't watch this series if they are all like this.

tlarri, posted on November 2, 2013

I like the show a lot, but find the constant "spooky" backround music distracting. It would be great if you - oh, just saw the below comment about the music - I CONCUR!! :)

vickiespray, posted on November 2, 2013

THRILLED that this is being done! One complaint-Please take the background music OFF as interview is happening!! So aggravating and distracting.

clsuess, posted on November 2, 2013

it's a shame that this series is made to look so weird with the gothic haunted castle setting and Regina as the Elvira mistress of ceremonies. What I liked about Regina's usual interviews and style is that she does it with a news anchor's no-nonsense credibility. The style of these pieces results in exactly what Regina said she didn't want - the contents to be relegated to some fringe weirdo thing.

danilfrisco, posted on November 2, 2013

This sounds like a cheap movie. Cannot it sound like something wonderful is being revealed rather than aomething 'scary'?

rgarkey, posted on November 1, 2013

I love Regina and was so looking forward to this show. The cheesy 'background' music (which is more front and center than background) is really annoying and makes the show unwatchable. Such a shame, Regina is the best and gets great guests but this kills it for me.

gaiamtv75, posted on November 1, 2013

The background music is a complete annoyance. please stop.. stop... stop...

RedcatMac, posted on November 1, 2013

I was so looking forward to this new series with Regina. Unfortunately, I found it almost unwatchable with the distracting fake background and repetitive "erie" music. It was almost as if Regina's usual professionalism collided with a grade B horror film. Nice try, but no...

sherrianwitt, posted on November 2, 2013

I agree with you RedcatMac, And our talented and beautiful Regina came off looking like a real witch...
Help, get her back....

Satsy, posted on November 4, 2013

Ha, that's funny our beautiful Regina. Not her style at all. Maybe Gaiam put her under a spell to get her to do this.

opt4success, posted on November 1, 2013

Great interview. I really like Regina and her style. PLEASE TURN OFF THE BACKGROUND MUSIC. It's very distracting.

suppqueen, posted on November 1, 2013

My only hope is that the music was only because of the Halloween specials. The word that came to mind immediately was "distracting" I see it has been given in other comments as well. Thanks!

mariangain, posted on November 1, 2013

Regina, thanks for bringing this information to Gaiam viewers. Found both episodes stimulating. Two things that don't appeal, or are distracting are the background music/noise, and the old castle setting. I can live with the background 'scene', but the noise is very distracting. Thanks!

sarahchicago, posted on November 1, 2013

The music is only distracting during the Ed Dames portion. Everywhere else it adds to the experience.

charlseyc, posted on November 1, 2013

I am so happy Regina Meredith's new series "Phenomena" is now available on Gaiam TV. I will definitely watch all of the episodes. I was riveted to the first two and was particularly enthralled with Episode 2, "Encounters." As Regina Meredith always does so well, she has chosen very credible guests and provided a professional, investigative thoroughness to the subject. It elevates this important subject matter instead of sensationalizing these accounts as so many others tend to do.

I only have one suggestion for improvement. In the first episode, I found the "eerie" music extremely distracting and disappointing as it is what so many other programs use when dealing with paranormal subject matter. I don't think this music track is worthy of Ms. Meredith's quality journalism or the professionalism of the rest of the production. I wasn't aware of an eerie sound track in the second episode, so I'm hoping it was gotten rid of for good.

Thanks so much for doing so much to inform and raise our consciousness!

I get it that this is about "the unexplained" but the very loud, bad and repetitive background music is making it hard for me to enjoy this otherwise perfectly good interview.
