Wisdom of Dreams: Ron Heagy (2001)

Episode 10
Available worldwide

When Ron Heagy was in high school, he was in top physical shape and extremely arrogant. During spring break his senior year, he decided to go to Huntington Beach in California. His parents wouldn't let him go if he didn't take his little brother, Mike, so he grudgingly took Mike along.

The first day at Huntington Beach, he dived into a wave, head first, slammed his head in a sand bar, shattered his neck, and severed his spinal cord. Mike, whom Ron didn't want with him in the first place, jumped in and pushed Ron to safety, saving his life.

Today, Ron is paralyzed from the neck down. Despite that, he lives optimistically, is a motivational speaker, met and married his wife, and has a baby daughter. He speaks to Martin Luther King III about the lessons he learned about arrogance, humility, humor, the importance of love and family, and who he is.
