Thinking Allowed: Shadows of the Sacred (Frances Vaughan) – Part 1 (2000)
Host Jeffrey Mishlove explores the nature of spiritual illusion with Frances Vaughn, past president of both the Association for Transpersonal Psychology and the Association for Humanistic Psychology, and author of Shadows of the Sacred.
Rather than thinking of illusion as something bad, consider that illusion is actually a partial perception of reality. It's when we mistake our partial perceptions for the whole of reality that we can cause problems for ourselves.
While the mind can be possessed by illusions, spirit is eternally free, and the spiritual path takes us from ignorance to understanding, from bondage to freedom, from fear to love.
