Spring: A Posture Flow Opening to Air

Available worldwide

At the time of the Spring Equinox day and night are equal in both hemispheres - it is a time for new beginnings. In this vinyasa practice, Kate Potter has designed her sequence to be especially supportive for what the universe may have in store for you as the season transitions to Spring. Kate's style lends itself to the comfort that can come from repetition of poses. As she builds the sequence, how it feels becomes more and more familiar, allowing you to shift your focus and embrace the opportunities of Spring.

It really felt like a spring cleaning for my body after not doing yoga for some months. Loved this practice. Thanks for getting my body ready for spring!

katepotter, posted on May 7, 2016

Excellent! yes the breath is fast enough and movements help to gently detox the winters KAPHA. Thanks very much for your practice.

Nice gentle flow with some good stretching, I'm pretty inflexible so some of the beginnning poses were hard for me without more of a warmup but I tried.

katepotter, posted on May 7, 2016

AH, thanks for trying, and yes indeed, I wish it had a longer warm up too. Keep trying and do warm up more before you do it. I wish you the best. Kate

LOVED this Kate! Thank You. xox My body has been feeling stiff and restricted after a car accident and very little yoga practice. I feel this was the first step back into my practice and the flow felt really great opening up my breath and my body. Gratitude. Namaste!

katepotter, posted on April 5, 2016

Car accidents are brutal!I do hope you recover well and please do take great care with your yoga practice and otherwise. Thanks for your comment, and best of luck to you.

A very nice practice to do especially if you haven't practiced for some time. Gentle warm up before leading into good stretch poses. A nice mini all rounder.
*A bit of confusion over the breath type though as in the beginning Kate requested stomach based breathing but at the end mentions ujay (chest /throat) breathing was used. Also, a posture missed after the second janurasana (sic) B posture.

katepotter, posted on April 5, 2016

Thanks for your comment. As for the breathing practices in my flows, we always use "Ujayii". That is to say we always breathe in and out through the nose but use our throat to retain a filter, and make a soft sound. Whenever possible, relax your belly as you breathe in and contract the belly when you breathe out. These are both going on at the same time. Both throat breathing and belly breathing. Thanks for mentioning the missed posture. It is tricky to fix from here but I hope people will somehow fit it in.

Good luck with your practice.

As an allergic to pollen, spring means for me difficulties to exhale fully and relaxed and to inhale with strength and confidence. I am hoping that the flow will help me. Firstly, I was amazed to be able to focus on the breath without panicking or feeling dizzy, and I attribute that to the flow, the teaching and the harmony of both. It is a new approach, I am less in fears of the sneezing and trouble linked with allergies, because I discovered I can actually do a lot than I thought, thankfully to Kate. The effect on the breath is great, and the tensions linked with the fears to practice and work with the breath ... Thank you so much, with gratitude !

katepotter, posted on April 5, 2016

Thanks for your great effort in the breathing practice with postures. I am so lucky not to have allergies but many of my students do, and I know how they suffer. Perhaps one way to help is to think more about the exhale, and less about the inhale. If you really managed all the exhale air out, I hope the inhale will come a little easier.

Take good care and good luck with your spring allergies

katepotter, posted on March 24, 2016

And back to you with thanks! One of the best things about spring is the green, the green, the golden green. Starting to see it all around. Best wishes

raelei, posted on March 24, 2016

Muchas Gracias!

What a lovely practice. I found the breathing explanation at the start of the flow extremely helpful and a good reminder, but during the practice at times challenging. I sometimes found myself inhaling or exhaling in the wrong place. I plan to practice this until I get it right.

katepotter, posted on March 24, 2016

Wonderful! The effort it takes to be a good breathing dancing yogi is totally worth it. Don't worry that you find you are off sometimes. Perhaps my instructions are not always exact either ( I notice) Just make the effort, and that is all. Best of luck to you dear heart!

What a wonderful spring practice! I love Kate Potter's videos so much. Just like the previous comment, I loved the fluidity of this practice, gentle, yet heating. I practiced this looking out the window at two magnolia trees in full bloom. The flowing sequences, the focused breathing, the mudras...the whole thing felt like poetry in motion! Thank you for such a wonderful practice!

a4d, posted on March 25, 2016

Just wish this were longer. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

katepotter, posted on March 24, 2016

Oh My Goodness.Thank you for your generous comments. I tried the practice yesterday and although I do love the actual sequence, I kept seeing ways it could be improved. I hope when you learn it you will just do it without the voice cues , and perhaps then those magnolia trees will enter even more deeply into your expression. Regardless, you are a star!

THANK YOU! What a great way to start my day.

No way!!! This is the best! Okay okay, last word and then I am going to go do the sequence myself. Can you meet me in FL for a workshop? I am teaching at the Atlantic Arts Centre hosted by a yoga studio called Yoga Bala (from Port Orange). When Karrie present me, s the thing is a always a dream..... and the theme for the weekend is YOGA AND CREATIVITY!! This is my favourite topic as I believe being present, is the fast track to an entirely creative life, and Yoga trains us to be no less than present. Full Stop! Check Facebook or my site www.katepotteryoga.ca and hope to meet you there. APRIL 1,2,3.
