Spring Seasonal Vinyasa

Available worldwide

In Ayurveda, the spring season is a time when the Kapha dosha (composed of Earth and Water elements) moves into the Pitta dosha phase (composed of the Fire and Water elements). During this transition time in March through May, nature is melting and releasing energy into plants, trees, and humans. It’s an important time to cleanse and detoxify, make new intentions, and plant seeds to ensure this vital energy is focused toward your future crops, creative projects and dreams. This spring seasonal vinyasa class includes traditional cleansing postures to reduce inflammation around the digestive organs and abdomen, breathing techniques to cleanse the lungs, twisting for detoxification, and intensive work in the inner and outer legs where earth and water elements may have accumulated over the winter.

melinameza, posted on March 23, 2014

hello, i'm not in charge of that department....not sure how you can figure that out, perhaps send a question to the MYO folks?

melinameza, posted on March 23, 2014

hello, it's a pretty tough pose in the beginning and gets better with practice! without seeing you its pretty hard to give you support, but i will stay it might be helpful to simple sit tall and stretch your wrists longer before putting weight on them? the elbows will slip some and if you wanted to get really serious...you could tie your elbows together to keep them from parting. ( > : Hope that helps.

Mdeal72, posted on March 22, 2014

I really enjoyed this practice! I've got questions about the Mayurasana variation...I can't seem to get my elbows to stay close enough together once I start to fold forward and bring my head towards the floor, and there is a lot of pressure on my wrists. I tried angling in different ways with my wrists, but my elbows keep splaying out. Are there any suggestions you have as to how I can get there more easily?

thanks for trying out my classes! i hope the new ones coming out won't bother you too much because i did talk while doing the poses.....pros and cons to each. happy spring, melina

mcelroysix, posted on March 20, 2014

Loved the detoxifying sequence. Melina, your videos are among my favorites because of your soothing voice and the fact that you practice with the voiceover in the background rather than trying to talk and practice at the same time. Graceful, beautiful, deep, peaceful.

Such a wonderful way to focus on the elements and how they deeply affect our body, spirit and mind. I've enjoyed all of your seasonal practices for this reason. After reading about the spring focus of cleansing internal organs, I'm inspired to learn more about ayurvedic practices. Thus far, your sessions have hit the mark each time. Thank you.
