Tapped (2009)

Only available in Canada, United States

Is access to clean drinking water a basic human right or a commodity that should be bought and sold? Tapped offers an unflinching behind-the-scenes view of the big business of bottled water – an industry that aims to privatize and sell back the one resource that should never become a commodity.

From the plastic production to the ocean in which so many of these bottles end up, this inspiring documentary trails the path of the bottled water industry and the communities that were the unwitting chips on the table. From the producers of Who Killed the Electric Car comes this powerful portrait of the lives caught at the intersection of big business and the public’s right to water.

If we are to take their power away from these companies, we MUST stop buying from them... everything they sell... we don't need them! or their products...

Why do so many people pay so much for one of the essentials of life? A good picture of what is happening, and what we can change. Drinking water needs to be protected and conserved.

This film needs to be played in every school at all levels and PTA meetings and start community discussions and develop contracts/agreements for people to commit to like not texting while driving. Agreements that they will not buy bottled water, that they will recycle all plastic, that they will pick up plastic trash and recycle it and kindly educate those they see buying or drinking bottled water. We need to create the world we wish to live in and even the smallest beginning steps will create a ground swell. When we are fully responsible for our personal environments and health, the rest will take care of itself and we will then live in the world that we want and helped to create. As consumers, we can change the world. Start by getting back to our basic values and making choices that do no harm.

A vital message!! The most intelligent life on earth is slowly killing their environment, thus eventually themselves, through greed and sloth.
