Through the Eastern Gate (2007)

Available worldwide

Through the Eastern Gate follows three young Westerners who embraced the paths of three different eastern spiritual traditions. This intimate and compelling film delves into the worlds of people who could not find fulfillment in their Western traditions and so abandoned them to discover new paths and meaning in their lives.

Sister Yeshe Chodron traveled to northern India to become a monk in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. In Turkey, Aziz Abbatiello embraces the Mevlevi practice of Sufism. And Ronela Vainio finds the connection she so deeply yearned for in the study of tantric yoga in India. This heart-opening documentary offers a rare view into the practices of three of the world’s great spiritual traditions.

Though I personally believe no man should be worshipped as a diety, I was moved by the faith and sincerity of these people who have sacrificed all earthly belongings and wealth in search of their spiritual identity.

He wasn't advocating to worship man as a deity . Simply saying that we are a part of God, in spirit.
God doesn't even need our worship. "Worship" is really nothing more than confirming to ourselves what we believe.
As sons of God we can be as perfect as God, if we just accept the reality of who we are, and who we're not.

This film chronicles the experiences and opinions of three young Westerners who have adopted Eastern spiritual paths. If you were looking for instructions for each of thee paths, I think you will find this film comes up short. What it does convey, very well in fact, is the experience of these three on their paths. Perhaps you will see a path you want to follow, based on this, but, to me, what was most important was the astounding similarities between the fundamental truths of these seemingly disparate paths, including the very similar teachings of the gurus for each of these three. This is a film very much worth watching and considering seriously, for sure.

Why can I not receive this movie in Coata Rica> The advertisement for purchasing for GAIAM was that you were world wide and such a movie as this would be my primary interest?
