Hi David,
I just re-found this practice and loved the pace, poses, instruction (as always), and beautiful meditation.
I look forward to more longer classes from you to buck the current Gaia trend towards 15 minute sessions.

Thank you Nicole! We'll have some new videos coming out this year, so keep an eye out for new content.

Hi David,

Thank you for such a deep, slow flow. It is such a treat to be able to listen to your voice and always understand the instructions without having to watch the screen. Question, I normally come into Ardha Chandrasana from an open hip pose. I like the entry from lunge. However, the dismount feels very tweaky in my sacrum. Thoughts? Thank you. Love all your classes.

pranavayu, posted on May 20, 2015

Hello Kahlua,

I fear that my response is a bit belated! My apologies. I'm really glad that you've enjoyed the videos.

There are many potential ways to enter ardha chandrasana. I think that it's a pretty challenging balance, so I usually have people start from the lunge because it makes it easier so set up the leg and hip position in a slow and graduated way.

If dismounting from an open hip pose like warrior II or the extended side angle feels better, there's no reason not to do it that way. I'd recommend that you practice like that until your back feels better. It's also a good idea to do some strengthening exercises for the glutes to build some structural support as well. Afterward, if the lunging approach feels better, you can use that sometimes to shake things up.

Hope that helps!

LOVE your classes and was wondering which you'd consider to be safe during early pregnancy? What poses should be avoided ? Thank you!

pranavayu, posted on May 20, 2015

I'm sorry that I missed your original question. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

A few years back, I collaborated on an article on prenatal yoga practices. I think that you might find the information there to be helpful, so I'll give you the link...

LMK if you have any specific questions outside of what is covered in the article.

Hope that helps,

Awesome practice - I loved the combination of pace and challenge. It's a shame it dropped out during savasana so I missed what sounded like a lovely guided meditation. Thank you.

Thank you David, that was incredible. What a powerful practice. It was challenging at times, drawing my attention to my physical body, but then you drew me back, so deeply within myself. I could feel the prana flowing. I just wanted to stay there, in savasana, and feel my energy flow. I feel so deeply grounded, so connected. Thank you for sharing your beautiful gift with us. Namaste.

Fantastic! David's tone motivated me throughout the class without causing me to feel ambitious. His instructions were so clear and simple I never had to look at the screen to know what to do. I loved his technique for refining and deepening the first side bend and for simulating a bind in revolved side angle pose. The long savasana at the end was deep and restorative. Thank you!

Hi Elana,

You might consider either using two mats to give yourself some extra cushion, or a doubled over blanket to use under your knee during these poses. Padding usually helps quite a lot.

Thanks for practicing!

Gaxette, posted on February 4, 2013

I love this video but all the various poses done with one knee on the ground start to bother my knee after a while. Any suggestions?

@BitchHoliday Hi Amy... I loved reading your post... because that is exactly how I feel/felt. I am still in the 'practice' part of the meditation aspect of yoga... but I definitely am getting there. It helps with David's wonderful teaching style.. He is my most fav. yogaonline teacher... his classes have helped me begin to achieve that meditative level of yoga. For me, it is much easier to find that place when I am practicing at a yoga studio, but when I practice at home, I just want to turn off the video as soon as I am done with the 'physical' part of the practice.. but with David.. I persevere through, and have seen small but significant changes. In one of his classes, he talked about that.. and it really hit home with me... "Ahh-ha.. i said to myself.. if I keep 'practicing' this thing called meditation, I will achieve small successes" Much like when i began practicing the physical part of yoga.. at the beginning of my practicing life, I could barely do a plank pose. I am an older, very non flexible yoga practitioner. and for me, achieving some meditative success has strengthened me more than the physical aspect. Well enough said.. thanks for you post.. and God blessings. Nameste' Caroline

A savasana convert eh Amy? That's the best thing I've heard all day. Way to go!

AmyOBarYoga, posted on October 4, 2012

I really enjoy this practice, in large part, because of the eighteen minute corpse pose at the end. It's funny, because back when I first began the practice of yoga, I wasn't really practicing yoga at all. I was just doing a yogic style workout, basically, and when it came time for corpse pose, I'd roll up my mat and leave. (gasp, the horror)! Eventually, however, I realized corpse pose really was where my growth stemmed from and when I started allowing my body and mind to relax into it, I began seeing positive transformation in my life. Anyways, long story short, thanks for devoting so much time to this valuable posture. :0p ~~Amy

This was nice David. I woke up this morning stiff and sore and this helped give me energy for the day and soften and relax my muscles. The whole body scan at the end was nice too really helped me to soften my muscles to the floor (something I usually have a problem with!)
