Living in Balance: Transcendental Meditation (Sam Farling) (1999)

Episode 87

The art of transcendental meditation is a deeper level of meditation where our mind completely transcends into a state of near nothingness. As human beings we are taught that we cannot get anything without a large amount of effort.

However, the practice of transcendental meditation is a state of consciousness that requires us to let go of all the stress and effort to fully become at one with our body. This technique of meditation will help revitalize the body and mind. Expert and 25-year practitioner Sam Farling explains the technique.

I wanted to address the bad reviews. The main thing to know is that there is never going to be a video that teaches TM because it is an individualized personal 5 day training. There is a lot to learn that cannot be covered in a short video. Every training is a learned practice that as you begin each person may have individual questions and experiences that need to be addressed by a trained instructor. I just finished my TM training and found my instructor invaluable to my process. It was worth every penny, I am already seeing and feeling the benefits and know I will do this for the rest of my life. In fact, I need to go and do my morning meditation right now.
PS- this is not anything religious, nor a cult, no talk of any deity or god, it is only a mental and physiological process.
PPS- you are paying for the instructors time and knowledge. This takes about 10-12 hours to learn at first, they teach in their homes, and for some it is their job. What they paid to learn at an instructors teaching I do not know. After the training you are entitled to FREE follow ups or tunes ups for life at no cost ever. Even if you move you get free access to a teacher in your area.

Yeah, I did a little research after watching this entire video. All of the teachers have studied with Maharishi, and for some reason feel that their information is something worth paying for. I'm all for paying for something that satisfies my desires, but with spiritual teachings it certainly makes you think twice. Shouldn't information about what they are calling a simple practice be spread quickly and freely? I don't know... the economic aspect of this knowledge is worrying me a bit. I contacted one of their offices and will go check out the free informational meeting and report back what I find. Before I've done that, I will not rate the video. I do think it should have a better description though.
