So much has been written about artists and their work methods. This was something of a refreshing change. It takes you to the heart of her life without ever discussing that at all. You just see her joy in painting and her light in knowing what makes the world around her "tick". The choice of the Russian composer Dmitri Shastokovitch as the focus of her latest work (in this film) has many layers of complexity and is not really the subject of the film. Just a solitary tribute and something you will either understand or not from wherever you may be in your own life. Seems to me this is a surprisingly well-crafted little film/bio.

"I don't want to be cutting-edge. I want to be timeless." This lady speaks my language. What's not to love about this short doc?
