Thinking Allowed: A Vision of Hope and Action (Duane Elgin) (2001)
Host Jeffrey Mishlove and Duane Elgin discuss the future of the human race.
Elgin describes the human race as being caught between adversity trends and opportunity trends, and believes that society's biggest problem is that our maturity level is that of an adolescent. With our choices regarding consumerism and the environment, he says, we are programming ourselves for commercial success and evolutionary failure.
He believes that we will enter a time of transparency where the poverty and the glare of differences that have been hidden in the past will be open for the world to see. Only after we address these problems, we are told, will our society be able to enter into a stage of adulthood.
