Encounters with the Unexplained: Where Was Jesus All Those Years? (2002)

Not even the Bible can tell us what happened to Jesus between the ages of 12 and 30. There is also no mention of his life when his family was forced to flee into Egypt at age two. Ancient Arabic and Egyptian documents and traditions have begun to surface, and scholars have developed surprising theories about what Jesus was doing during most of his life. Did he discover an Oasis in Egypt, start a Church in England or carry the message to China and India?

and let them take notes just as we all did starting out & go on their own research -adventure into this topic. I found it fascinating upon my first steps into the research of this body of information & found that this piece is just one piece of much larger tapestry of our history in all of it's shapes & colors. Happy discovery to all. Be wise. Stand balanced.

This one is almost as bad as the previous one on the historical evidence for the Nativity story. They interviewed people who had written entire books on the subject of the lost years, people who referred to newly emerging evidence, but then they don't explore the evidence, they just quote scholars who make assertions on one side or the other (yes, Jesus traveled to India vs. no, Jesus never left Nazareth).
As you can imagine, it's the devout Christian experts who assert that only the Biblical story is true, while independent scholars seem to have access to more information.
It's superficial, slow-moving and extremely repetitive. Sometimes the exact same interview is repeated. It's mostly questions (is it possible that Jesus traveled to Glastonbury with Joseph of Arimathea?) but very few answers.
The manuscript discovered and translated by Nicholas Notovich about the lama Saint Issa (Jesus) traveling in Tibet is dismissed out of hand without examining the extensive evidence supporting it.
Gaiam should have vetted this series. It is not up to Gaiam's usual high standards. Much better would be The Lost Years of Jesus which is filled with archaeological and manuscript evidence of Jesus' years in India and Tibet.
Bottom line: don't waste your time on this. If anyone from Gaiam is reading this, please remove this poorly-made series. It does not well represent you.
