Yoga and Pilates Fusion with Anita Seiz. Combining the best of both practices! This practice is great cross training for those who want to integrate a focus on core strengthening into their Yoga practice. The focus of this practice is on opening the hips and lower back in order to have better access to the deep core muscles. Avoid this practice if you have neck and shoulder injuries, low back injuries, and osteoporosis.

Overall, a great class. I liked the sequences, but transitions were confusing near the end with the more complex moves. Camera shifts were also distracting, sometimes moving from closeup to far away before I could figure out where my arms and legs were supposed to be. This practice is just outside my usual practice level, so I'll return to it to gain new skills.

Love this flow for those Saturday mornings I don't feel like doing anything too intense! I wish there were more yoga/pilates fusion videos on Gaia!

Anita Seiz's classes in general, and this one in particular are exactly what my body needs. When I practice lots of opening and stretching yoga without combining it with centering and strengthening I exacerbate old injures. This class does a masterful job of working and opening the body. I LOVE it.

Thank you, Anita! That was an amazing Morning Practice. It will be from today on also my favourite practice,. ;-) Wonderful hip openers and amazing stretches. My entire body is rejoicing and I am ready for the day! Thanks again! I will "see you" tomorrow morning again! :-)

Lots of great stretching here and powerful but gentle core movements. This is an amazing workout! More please :)

Loved the great stretch for sciatica and the joint movement in this. Core was perfect for me to start the day strong.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank You

I found some of the sequencing confusing and while I definitely used my core, I guess I needed something more intense today. This is on the gentle side.

This class hit all the areas of my body that so badly needed some love and attention. Thanks for the delicious stretching and strengthening, Anita! I also appreciate your creative exercises and explanations on how & what goes on in each of them.

Steady pace, solid core work and neat variations of postures from both pilates and yoga. Thank you~

Anita - you seem like a kind person and are definitely talented. You have a calm and encouraging voice, and you make everything look easy. However, it was anything but easy for me. In fact, it was brutal at times.

This video starts easy and there are options at almost every point to make it less difficult. But it was really challenging for me, both the stretches and strength work.

Change nothing. An awesome workout.

This was a great practice--all of my favorite stretching yoga and some great core work. I will definitely come back to this one!

Anita, I love your Yoga/Pilates fusions and all your workouts. Please keep posting them here. You have a very soothing voice and your music choices are spot on. The style of your workouts aren't hard on the body, but benefits are definitely gained. I especially know the next day when I feel those hard to reach muscles.

I really love your style Anita, your sequencing and sweet personality make you one of my top favorite teachers on this website. I'll continue looking for new videos from you! xo

I thoroughly enjoyed this class! Anita's voice is so calming and steady. By listening to her I was able to remain focused during each move. Thank you!

I enjoyed this video. I would love a little more guidance with breathing before the postures. Also, it seems that there is inconsistency in left and right side at 11:15 before the quad stretch there should be a side stretch. I suspected something was missing from the one side but it took me a few times doing this video to find it.

Core and abs work. Some rotations. No sun salutations.

jaycubj, posted on January 8, 2013

I enjoyed the juicy stretches in this video- really nice! If I could add anything to it I would only suggest more guidance on breathing- when to inhale and exhale in each different movement. I feel I could get more from each stretch if I were aware of how to breathe in time with it. I imagine if I do this video more I will get better in touch with that as well. Thank you!

Exactly what I was looking for. Been doing Pilates for years but am happy to see that its virtues are not corrupted here by fitness-freak style exercises. Pilates adds a mindful fitness component to yoga. North Americans demand this kind of results-oriented exercise, but Ms. Seiz's style strikes an amazing balance by not giving into the more extremist takes on it. Fusing the two disciplines makes for an optimal workout. Thanks very much for this and your other videos!!

@chmariediz212, I saw a Level 3 yoga pilates fusion on a free site, it had yoga poses including side plank, wild thing, Marichi's posture and all that Stott style breathing ... it IS possible ... both propless and equipmentless, for an advanced yogi to do a fusion. Not speaking personally, of course--this same teacher's Level 2 had overchallenged me ... may revisit that some time soon since I've had several live pilates mat classes ...

Either you do yoga or Pilates ... Advanced in yoga it looks like nothing but slow stretching...

This video was good and i am learning more on how to workand use the corebetter. (still finding it hard but getting there) I did find that the voice overlay was a bit slower than the movements so i felt i was trying to alway catchup with her not using my breating proberly when doing this.
I have saved this to my favorites as I like all the movements.

Oh man this is a wonderfully challenging workout. Each sequence is long enough for you to doubt your drive and body but short enough for you to stick it through to feel awesome that you didn't give up. Thank you Anita.

absolutely love your videos. love the flow and natural movements of the body. the only constructive feedback would be to stay in the movements a bit longer as being dyslexic it takes me awhile to get into the position with my right and lefts, and then i find that it is time to move to the next one... your voice and cueing is great, just a bit longer in each move to enjoy the juiciness would be great... thanks for some very inspiring ways to move and to fuse yoga and pilates.
