Renowned for his work in the psychic area, Russell Targ is a physicist, author and co-founder of the Stanford Research Institute (SRI). While working as a senior staff scientist for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Targ pioneered the development of the laser and airborne laser systems. Retiring in 1997, Targ now writes books on psychic research and teaches remote viewing worldwide. He is author/co-author of nine books on the scientific investigation of psychic abilities and Buddhist approaches to the transformation of consciousness. After receiving his degree in physics from Queens College and graduate work in physics at Columbia University, Russell Targ cofounded the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) and headed the investigation of psychic abilities in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1983 and 1984, he presented remote-viewing demonstrations to the USSR Academy of Science. Russell Targ has received two National Aeronautics and Space Administration awards for inventions and contributions to lasers and laser communications.
