We find Sandra Meigs at the Athabasca Sand Dunes in northern Alberta. We view some of her works as she explains the different landscapes she has visited and painted. She tells us she has always had an interest in narrative and storytelling. Each of the works has an occupant dwelling in the painting. By combining the beautiful and grotesque she finds new ways of looking at things.
As she sketches and paints, she explains some of her views on capturing the landscapes. It is all about focusing on the simplicity of the vegetation, the forms, and the shadows. In her studio, she sifts through the sketches to see what permeates through. Putting the pieces together she compiles a complete painting that seems to reflect a dream state.
